Eighteenspecies of the Red Data Book of Lithuania were registered during this study. The investigation territory is characterised by various types of wetlands and forests;the richest in bryophyte species being black-alder stands (36 species) and swampy spruceforests (26 species). Epiphytes are represented by 31 species and epixyles by 32 species.Five areas within the territory of the Strict Nature Reserve, rich in bryophytes and rarebryophyte species, are proposed as important bryophyte areas. These are 3 largest mires (Artojibog, complex of fens and transitional mires Didþioji Plynë, transitional mire around LakeBuveinis) with the surrounding swampy forests, the richest in epiphyte species nemoralforests, and springy lower reaches of the river Vieðvilë with the surrounding swampy forests.Gautas: 2003 m. spalio 14 d.Priimtas: 2003 m. lapkrièio 19 d.Received: October 14, 2003Accepted: November 19, 2003
