Most masculine and feminine nouns belonging to this declension<br />

are declined like homo.<br />

All neuter nouns and adjectives, no matter what declension they<br />

may belong to, always have their nominative and accusative alike and<br />

always end in ..a in the nominative and accusative plural.<br />

7. Declension of adjectives. All adjectives fall into two main groups,<br />

the first group belonging to the -us, ..a, ..urn type (bonus, bona,<br />

bonum); these are declined according to the first and second declensions.<br />

The second group, declined according to the third declension,<br />

contains three classes of adjectives:<br />

those that have three forms in the nominative singular, one for each<br />

gender:<br />

masc., acer fern., acris neuter, acre<br />

those that have two forms in the nominative singular, one for the<br />

masculine and feminine, and one for the neuter:<br />

masc. and fern., omnis<br />

neuter, omne<br />

and those that have one form in the nominative singular for all three<br />

genders:<br />

masc., fern., and neuter, clemens<br />

Almost all third declension adjectives (as well as some nouns) end<br />

in ..i in the ablative singular, have -ium in the genitive plural, either<br />

-is or -es in the accusative plural of the masculine and feminine, and<br />

-ia in the nominative and accusative plural of the neuter.<br />

Examples:<br />

hominum omnium, of all m~n<br />

vrrgines clementes, merciful tlirgins<br />

corpora omnia, all bodi~s<br />

culpas omnes, all faults<br />

cordium clementium, of m~ciful h~arts
