Our Editor Tina Jaeckle had a chance recently to ask Jackie some questions about her dad and the business. Here is what they talked about: What was it like growing up as the daughter of Houston Police Officer? My father did a good job separating work and home life. At home, he focused on being a good dad and spending time with the family. It wasn’t until I started working for him as an adult that I heard his HPD stories from back in the day. When you were young, did you go to work with your dad at Central? Yes, I worked at the store for a summer as a teenager. At what point did you decide to go to work for your dad? In 2008, I was working in the real estate industry. Although I enjoyed it, it was not fulfilling to me. One day, I visited the store with my dad, and he told me that the current manager was leaving. Since my dad did not have a replacement for him and I was looking for a more fulfilling career, it just made sense to come on board. I am happy that I stopped by that day. I really appreciate all the years that I got to work with my father and for the opportunity to learn the business. SOME OF THE FINE PRODUCTS YOU’LL FIND AT CENTRAL PS CLICK ON THE NAME FOR MORE INFORMATION HPD CHALLENGE COIN Where did you go to college? I went to Texas A&M University. I have a degree in Psychology with a minor in Business. What do you remember most about your dad? My dad was just a really special person. He would go out of his way to help others and genuinely wanted to lift those around him. It was hard to be in a bad mood around him because his positive attitude was contagious. One of the things he used to say was, “Every problem has a solution.” Those words come to me when faced with some kind of challenge, and they reassure me. 82 The BLUES FAMILY BADGE TLR-1 HL
