AROUND THE COUNTRY

AROUND THE COUNTRY DETROIT, MI. Dash cam video shows the minute a SUV slammed into a Michigan State Troopers vehicle. By Sarah Roebuck Police1 DETROIT — A trooper was struck by a speeding vehicle while he was outside of his cruiser during a traffic stop, according to Michigan State Police. The trooper was conducting a traffic stop on the freeway in Detroit on Sept. 17 when an SUV crashed into the stopped cruiser and went airborne. Dash cam video from the crash shows the SUV striking the back of the cruiser, then veering off to the side and hitting the trooper and two people inside the vehicle from the initial traffic stop. Michigan State Police said the trooper was taken to the hospital and treated for a possible torn tendon and road rash from being dragged by the suspect’s SUV. Before the suspect was transported to a hospital for injuries he received in the crash, he was belligerent and uncooperative with troopers on scene. A warrant was being written for suspected impaired driving, Michigan State Police said. “Here is another driver, possibly impaired, driving at a high rate of speed. It puts all of us in danger and is preventable. We are extremely lucky that this crash did not end up much worse. Just slow down and don’t drive impaired. It is that easy,” Lt. Mike Shaw said in a post on X. 40 The BLUES
