AROUND THE COUNTRY

AROUND THE COUNTRY SHERIDAN, WY. Sergeant Nevada Krinkee was shot and killed while serving a trespass warning in Sheridan Wyoming. Sergeant Nevada Krinkee was shot and killed while serving a trespass warning near 5th Street and Val Vista Street in Sheridan. Sergeant Krinkee was transported to Sheridan Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. The subject, who had a lengthy criminal record, fled and barricaded himself inside a residence. After a 30-hour standoff, the subject refused to surrender, attempted to flee, and was shot and killed. Sheridan Police Department Chief Travis Koltiska and Captain Tom Ringley said Sgt. Krinkee led a life of selfless service to his country and community. He graduated from Bozeman High School in Montana, in 2009 and chose to serve his country by joining the U.S. Army as a light infantryman during the Global War on Terror. Krinkee served proudly in the distinguished 82nd Airborne Division. Krinkee would spend eight years with the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in SERGEANT NEVADA KRINKEE 2017. During his time in service, Krinkee would earn the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Army Commendation Medal (4th Award), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), Combat Infantryman Badge and his Jumpmaster Wings. It was not long after leaving the U.S. Army, at the age of 26, Krinkee joined the Sheridan Police Department. His service to the Sheridan community as a peace officer began on Oct. 2, 2017. Krinkee made an immediate impact on the department and community through his work as a patrol officer. He was quickly promoted to the rank of Corporal and then Patrol Sergeant. Krinkee’s leadership set the example for all levels of leadership within the department. Krinkee was married to Karla, a Corporal with the Sheridan Police Department, and they recently welcomed their first child, Bella, to their family. Sergeant Nevada Krinkee tragically lost his life on Feb. 13, 2024 while serving the community he called his home. Krinkee’s integrity, selflessness and servant leadership will forever be his legacy to the department and community. He will forever be remembered. A benefit account for Krinkee’s family has been established at First Federal Bank and Trust. Please make checks payable to Karla Krinkee or FBO Nevada Krinkee and the team will ensure the funds are deposited to the account. Checks can also be mailed to PO Box 6007, Sheridan WY 82801. 42 The Blues - March ‘24 The Blues - March ‘24 43
