AROUND THE COUNTRY HARNETT COUNTY, NC. Harnett County Deputy Christopher Johnson was killed in a three-vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler. He died on the scene. A Harnett County deputy lost his life after a multi-vehicle crash on Darroch Road. Harnett County Deputy and SRO Chris Johnson, 51 was involved in a serious multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday, Feb. 6 around 3:00 p.m. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the three-car collision where Deputy Sheriff Johnson had succumbed to his injuries. Deputy Johnson was an SRO at Highland Middle School and was employed with the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office for the past 16 months. Deputy Johnson was a veteran law enforcement officer who had previously worked for both Sampson County Sheriff’s Office and Dunn Police Department. The accident is being investigated by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Several Eastern North Carolina law enforcement agencies have offered their condolences: The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office sends our condolences and ask that you join us in prayer for the Johnson family as well as the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office in days and weeks to come. Beaufort County Sheriff Hammonds and the staff of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office would like to express condolences to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office and the family of Deputy Chris Johnson. Deputy Johnson lost his life on February 6, 2024 as a result of a vehicle crash that occurred on his way home from the school where he served as a School Resource Officer.
