EST. 1953 ® On August 12, 2021, Detective Cody Burk, K-9 Deputy Ethan Kahla were advised of an armed car jacking involving a shot Harris County deputy, heading to their jurisdiction. Deputy Burk located the vehicle and began a pursuit and was later joined by Deputy Kahla in the pursuit. The suspect began firing at both deputies during the pursuit. The suspect avoided a set of stop sticks that nearby DPS troopers had set and Trooper Hunter join the pursuit. Trooper Hunter used his patrol car to hit the suspect’s vehicle head-on, disabling it and ending the chase and the suspect was shot and killed.
