PROTECTIVE CLOTHING STANDARDS Service PROTECTIVE CLOTHING STANDARDS ong>ENong> ISO 20471:2013+A1:2016 High-visibility warning clothing ong>ENong> 17353:2020 - Equipment for increased visibility for medium risk situations - Test methods and requirements SCOPE ong>ENong> ISO 20471:2013+A1:2016 regulates the requirements and test methods for high-visibility warning clothing, which makes the wearer visible in all lighting conditions in the dark as well as in daylight. CLASSIFICATION High-visibility clothing, consisting of fluorescent background material and a retro-reflective material (reflective stripes), is divided into 3 classes. The class of clothing is based on the minimum area of the fluorescent background material and the minimum area of the reflective strip and is measured on the smallest clothing size. At least (50 ± 10) % of the minimum area of the visible background material must be on the front of the clothing. The higher the class, the greater the visibility/visibility of the wearer. The background material must enclose the torso, sleeves or trouser legs and have a width of at least 50 mm. This area may only be interrupted ong>byong> reflective strips. The class of clothing is indicated next to the pictogram. The performance class can be determined using a single item of clothing or a combination of garments, e.g. jacket and trousers. Your ong>ROFAong> team will be happy to assist you. For the background material, this standard Minimum area Classification Class 1 Class 2 Class 3 Fluorescent background material 0,14 m 2 0,50 m 2 0,80 m 2 Reflective material 0,10 m 2 0,13 m 2 0,20 m 2 Material with combined properties 0,20 m² - - defines the following three colors and a minimum luminance factor (ßmin): Fluorescent yellow - 0.25 ßmin Fluorescent orange-red - 0.40 ßmin Fluorescent red - 0.70 ßmin Background material and trim material are tested for color fastness according to defined parameters. The reflectance values must be checked before and after pre-treatment/exposure. The reflection values depend on the observation and illumination angle. At an observation angle of 12 ° and an illumination angle of 5 °, 330 cd /(lx*mZ) is required in the original and >100 cd/ (lx*mZ) after stress (including abrasion, permanent creasing, folding, washing). AREAS OF APPLICATION High-visibility clothing is used wherever people are working on the public road network and in moving traffic. Highvisibility clothing is used in railroad, track and road construction, public utilities, logistics and factory services. Suitable for work outside of barriers and next to traffic areas (e.g. waste collection, street cleaning, surveying work), when carrying out railroad operations as well as salvage work and port work or activities on airport grounds. The increased visibility equipment is designed to make the wearer conspicuous in medium-risk situations in all daylight conditions and/or when illuminated ong>byong> vehicle headlights or searchlights in the dark. CLASSIFICATION The equipment for increased visibility is divided into three types: Type A Daylight Equipment using fluorescent material Type B Darkness Equipment using retroreflective material B1 (free hanging) B2 (Limbs) B3 (on the torso or on the torso and limbs) Type AB Daylight, Twilight and Darkness Equipment using fluorescent material and retroreflective material or material with combined properties AB2 AB3 Type A: Garments must be made of fluorescent material on all sides. For tops, it must be evenly distributed around the torso and/or upper arms and/or limbs. For pants, it must be evenly distributed around the legs. The minimum area requirement in Table 3 must be met. Type B1: Free-hanging products: ong>Productsong> must be detachable and be retroreflective from both sides. The optically active surface must be at least 15 cmZ on each side. Type B2: Equipment of the limbs: The retroreflective material must surroand each limb with a minimum width of 20 mm, the minimum area requirement from Table 2 must be met. Type B3: Equipment for the torso or the torso and limbs. The retroreflective material must enclose the torso with a minimum width of 20 mm. If the clothing covers the forearms or legs below the knee, retroreflective material is required on the limbs, taking into account the requirements of type B2. The minimum area requirement in Table 3 must be met. Type AB: Combination of type A and type B2 or B3: The clothing requirements are to be taken from the specifications of type A and type B2 or type B3. The minimum areas from Table 3 must be fulfilled. For the individual types, certain minimum areas are required of the reflective and fluorescent material. The areas must be measured on the smallest garment size intended for delivery. retroreflective material Body height of the user (h) Fluorescent material Retroreflective material Material with combined properties B1* B2* 0,003 0,018 a: Total area of both pages of a single product b: In the case of products, the total area of two products, measured lying flat Required minimum areas of material in mZ for type B1 and type B2 A B3 AB2 AB3 A B3 AB2 AB3 h ≤ 140 cm h > 140 cm 0,14 - 0,14 0,14 0,24 - 0,24 0,24 - 0,06 0,018 0,06 - 0,08 0,018 0,08 - - - 0,14 - - 0,24 Required minimum area of material in mZ for type A, type B3 and type AB* AREAS OF APPLICATION The clothing marked with this standard can be used for both private (including children) and commercial purposes.
