LAYINg INsTruCTION
EN
1. Ensure the surface is sound and free of any dust and dirt.
2. In the case of very absorbent surfaces, it is necessary to prime the substrate with diluted rubber latex before spreading the mixture.
3. Carefully follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions in order to obtain a homogeneous mixture.
4. The mixture must be applied to the prepared substrate using a trowel. It is important to spread the correct quantity of mixture to ensure a good adhesion
of the tiles (about 5 mm thickness).
5. After spreading the mixture on a small area, lay the tiles taking care to tap them uniformly.
6. JOINTS - the minimum joint between the tiles should be no less than 2mm. In areas greater than 0,16 sqm (40x40 cm) or where the installation is subject to
constant varying temperatures (such as windows or heat sources), the joints would have to be widened proportionally up to 5 mm. Expansion joints must be
installed along the perimeter of the floor walls, around columns and where movement is expected through expansion or vibration.
7. GROUTING JOINTS - The grouting - mixture of grouting cement and water - should not commence until the tiles have been laid for a period of 2/3 days. The
excess must immediately be removed using a wet sponge or damp wood dust. The use of synthetic grouts is recommended and not a mixture of cement and
water and always follow the grout manufacturers instructions.
ATTENTION - VERDE ALPI, VERDE LIGURIA and ROSSO LEVANTO are to be installed by people skilled in laying green marbles; for these colours the use polyurethane adhesive
is recommended.
MAINTENANCE INsTruCTION
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
SANTAMARGHERITA ® EN
recommends that particular attention is paid to the following instructions regarding the cleaning and maintenance of its
products, in all cases we recommend informing your clients, and end users of the following cleaning recommendations.
INITIAL CLEAN
• To guarantee sufficient protection against water and oil stains, the engineered stone paving should be treated at least twice with a high quality sealer.
• On newly laid and still wet paving we recommended the use of ecological and water dilutable products.
ATTENTION - This method of impregnation does not give a long lasting protection against alkaline and acid /liquids. Longer exposure to this kind of contaminant could cause a chemical reaction, corrosions
and development of coloured stains.
DAILY CLEANING
• For normal dirt wash the engineered stone surface with a neutral cleaner.
• The frequency of the cleaning operation depends on the dirt and how frequently the surface is used.
• For intensive cleaning we suggest to damp clean once or twice a day.
CLEANING MACHINES - when using cleaning machines, ensure clean fresh water is used at all times and change whenever necessary. Ensure that the pads
and brushes are of the correct abrasion and are suitable for the pavement being cleaned. At long term too much abrasive cleaning pads make the surface
rough by destroying early the protection impregnation.
HEAVY TRAFFIC AREAS
• For applications in high traffic areas we recommended the use of high performance wax, applied regularly in order to assure hygienic conditions and
cleanliness.
SPECIAL SURFACE PROTECTION
• During construction where site conditions demand we recommend the use of suitable protection, especially developed for artificial stone cladding and
paving. This specialist protective film protects against acids or other aggressive liquid contaminants.
PLEASE NOTE - These instructions are based on our wide experience. Although we try our best to ensure that the information provided is accurate and comprehensive, SANTAMARGHERITA ® does not
provide a guarantee or cannot be deemed liable for the completeness or application of our specific recommendations.
