quartz general information
LAYINg INsTruCTION
EN
1. Ensure the surface is sound and free of any dust and dirt.
2. When fixing to very absorbent surfaces, it is necessary to prime the substrate with diluted rubber latex before spreading the mixture.
3. Carefully follow the instructions given by the adhesive manufacturer to ensure you create a homogenous mix.
4. The mixture must be applied to the prepared substrate using a trowel. It is important to spread the correct quantity of mixture for successful adhesion of the
tiles (about 5 mm thickness).
5. After spreading the mixture on a small area, lay the tiles taking care to tap them uniformly.
6. JOINTS - the minimum joint between the tiles should be no less than 2 mm. In areas greater than 0,16 sqm (40x40 cm) or where the installation is subject
constant varying temperatures (such as windows or heat sources), the joints should increase proportionally up to 5 mm. Expansion joints must be installed
along the perimeter of the floor walls, around columns and where movement is expected through expansion or vibration.
7. GROUTING JOINTS - The grouting - mixture of cement and water - should not commence until the tiles have been laid for a period of 2/3 days. The excess
grout must immediately be removed using a wet sponge or damp wood dust. The use of synthetic grouts is recommended and not a mixture and always
follow the manufacturers instructions.
MAINTENANCE INsTruCTION
GENERAL INSTRUCTION
SANTAMARGHERITA ® recommends particular attention is paid to the following instructions regarding the cleaning and maintenance of its products, in all cases we
recommend informing your clients, end-users of the cleaning recommendations.
SANTAMARGHERITA ® quartz based agglomerate is highly resistant to scratches and staining and therefore it is not necessary to protect the surface with wax or to
impregnate with sealer. In the polished finish, the material it is almost impossible to stain the surface. The material has a very low level of porosity and therefore dirt
cannot penetrate into the surface. The honed finish however, although highly scratchproof, shows a rougher surface that can trap dirt and needs thorough regular cleaning.
DURING INSTALLATION
• To maintain all surfaces are left in perfect condition, protect the floor from and any possible damage with an adequate cover whilst work is in progress.
• Upon completion of the works on site, any residual dust should be removed from the surface using brushes and a vacuum cleaner.
• Mortar stains and residue can be removed by a brush or, if particularly resistant, with a detergent diluted in clean water.
• The use of metal brushes is not recommended, as metal can be abraded by the quartz surface causing grayish marks to be left on the stone.
• Never treat the quartz based agglomerate flooring with wax or grease/oil based products.
DAILY CLEANING
• In case of normal cleaning wash the engineered stone surface with a neutral cleaner.
• The frequency of the cleaning operations depends on the dirt and how frequently the surface is used.
• For intensive cleaning it is suggested to clean wet 1-2 times a day.
CLEANING MACHINES - when using cleaning machines, ensure clean fresh water is used at all times and change whenever necessary. Pay attention to the
abrasive grade of the pads and brushes ensure they are suitable for the stone being cleaned.
PLEASE NOTE - These instructions are based on our wide experience. Although we try our best to ensure that the information provided is accurate and comprehensive, SANTAMARGHERITA ® does not
provide a guarantee or cannot be deemed liable for the completeness or application of our specific recommendations.
