LE RAGIONI DELL’ACQUA,
LE FORME DEL VETRO
The reasons of water, the shapes of glass
Andrea Ponsi
nuvole, atmosfera.
cristallina, in essenza bloccata.
All’homo faber viene pertanto
It is as singular as fascinating that water, to which we owe all
forms of life, is transparent and shapeless except when it is
forced by external circumstances. Its essence is fluid, flimsy
and able to transform thanks to a metamorphosis prompted by
the dynamics of heat and fire.
Water changes state by vaporizing in the air and becoming haze,
clouds and atmosphere. Conversely, when the heat subsides,
it turns into crystal, it solidifies into ice. The circumstances
of this transition generate ethereal and impalpable essences
or forms solidified in space and time.
Glass is a mineral substance fixed by the craftsman’s work in the
crystalline form, in a blocked essence. As for water, fire transforms
its state by fusing the material of which it is made of, that is silica
dioxide and oxides; when it cools it solidifies, maintaining its
transparency intact. Such change opens up the possibility for the
craftsman to manually forge an object, materialize an idea, recreate
an atmosphere.
The glass works shown here bear witness to his vital relationship
between natural forces and human thinking. Homo faber is
therefore granted a free creative action which, evoking by analogy
the fluidity and clarity of water, can satisfy the needs of both
functions and poetry.
SOSPENSIONE
Suspension
Marta Sansoni
Cercano tutti i tuoi riflessi queste
Mie mani nude.
acqua pura.
Your orange hair in the void of the world
In the void of these heavy panes of silence
Shade where my bare hands
Seek your image.
- Paul Éluard
Ancient and mysterious substance evocative of the
transparency of water. Matter that is transformed and
molded with fire.
Two original, ancestral elements, related to the life.
Glass shows an almost magical character by combining its
absolute lightness and fragility with performance.
Fragile as glass is an expression of respect rather than the
expression of a flaw.
It is transparency or non-concealment, a game of almost
inconsistent overlapping crossed by light, they are
fluctuating reflections, whirlpools of pure water.

Enrico Morteo
Il design oggi è diventato disciplina strabica,
capace di guardare contemporaneamente
in tante direzioni diverse.
apparentemente superfluo e frivolo, conosce a
trovare rimandi a certe accumulazioni ripetute
che richiamano i favolosi anni ’60; oppure
l’omaggio a certa eleganza tardo deco; o ancora,
costringe a pensare. Possiamo ritrovare certo
domanda.
Design today has become a cross-eyed discipline,
capable of looking in many different directions at
the same time. It looks ahead, into the future, in
search of new suitable forms for new sensitivities
and new emotions. But it also looks behind,
capable of retracing its history and rereading its
past. And it looks at the useful, whose meaning
and functions are continuously renewed in an
effort to offer solutions of intelligent immediacy.
But it also ironically gazes over what is
seemingly frivolous and superfluous, knowing
perfectly the mechanisms of art, the game of
provocation that turns into seduction.
Design looks towards technology and invention,
striving to find the perfect clothes to live our
daily life. But it also looks towards the eternity of
materials that does not know age, the weight of
time, the transience of fashions: those materials
are wood, ceramics and glass.
And so here it is: this small collection of objects
made of borosilicate glass - very light and more
resistant than expected - brings together many
of these gazes directed to the four winds.
Just like a rope that draws strength from the
interweaving of many strands, this collection
also reveals its interest in the comparison
of different voices, a polyphony in which to
rediscover the many souls of today’s design.
If we search among shapes, it will not be difficult to
find references to certain repeated accumulations
that recall the fabulous swinging sixties or the
tribute to the late deco elegance, or even the
recourse to the hermetic paradox of art, apparently
useless but capable of forcing us to think. We
can rediscover a certain pleasure in kitsch,
reinterpreted in a cultured and elegant spirit. There
is no lack of freedom of gesture that penetrates
the material, piercing it through with the intent of
showing it rather than violating it. And there is not
even lack of courage to propose simple beauty in a
sound of elegant balance.
Each piece is an unknown factor of the theorem
entrusted with the meaning of designing a new
object. No unknown factor alone is enough to solve
the equation; only when considered together do
they define the changing and unstable contours of
that whole we call design.
It would be enough to rely on the material, get lost
in the reflections of the glass, caress its swellings,
follow with a finger the delicate cords that border
the edges like silk scars; or instead glide with the
gaze on cuts as clear and sharp as rays of light.
After all, the answer to every question can be
found in the making.

CRASH
potenziale utilizzo.
The hammer, generally considered a symbol of strength and work,
becomes - thanks to the use of glass – an “other” object which
loses its function as a tool for hitting, for building but also for
breaking. The fragility and purity of the material counterbalance
the functionality and strength of the symbolic reference,
generating a short-circuit of Dadaist memory.
One of the two transparent pyrex glass hammers contains within
it the result of its potential use, just like a real air chamber.
bound, the three arms stand up. The feet are created by squeezing the tube so
to look a little more like webbed feet. I could have also chosen to multiply by 4
a stable way. It’s better this way.
It fills up with water at every storm and empties by evaporation.
