L’opinione di...Angela MagnaniLa terra e i giovani stanno urlando,perchè non li sentiamo?Che il mondo stia cambiando è sotto gli occhi di tutti e alloraperché i “grandi” della Terra sembrano ancora non renderseneconto? Sono anni che gli scienziati non fanno altro che avvisarcidi ciò a cui saremmo andati incontro, decenni in cui si è parlatodi disastri ambientali, buco dell’ozono, scioglimento dei ghiacciaieppure nessuno si è mai preoccupato di dargli veramenteascolto; tutt’ora che il cambiamento climatico è lampante adognuno di noi, questo sembra ancora non essere il più grandeproblema da affrontare.C’è un divario generazionale che sta spaccando in due la societàmondiale, i giovani sono molto più consapevoli della crisiclimatica perché la subiranno più degli over 55. Il problema èche a essere decisive sono le scelte degli elettori e dei governantianziani, che non vogliono cambiare stile di vita e politicheper un problema che non li toccherà e il successo della lottaal riscaldamento globale passa tutta da qui, purtroppo. Chemondo lasceremo ai nostri figli? É una domanda che moltospesso abbiamo sentito pronunciare dai nostri genitori preoccupatiper il futuro. Da qualche anno a porsela non sono piùgli adulti ma i figli, coloro che saranno gli adulti di domani, chechiedono a gran voce di essere ascoltati, considerati e, soprattutto,pretendono maggiore tutela per il Pianeta che dovrannoabitare ancora per molto tempo. Ad aprire la strada agli attivisti“teen” è stata Greta Thunberg che, in poco tempo, ha fattoil giro del mondo sfidando i potenti della Terra per chiedere unamaggiore attenzione al problema globale del clima. Dopo di leisono stati tanti i giovanissimi che hanno aderito alle campagneFriday for Future e sono diventati, pian piano, dei veri e propriportabandiera nei rispettivi Paesi di questa marcia. Giovani lacui voce si è fatta sentire forte e chiara nei giorni scorsi in occasionedella COP26 a Glasgow. Oggi non possiamo più ignorarela crisi climatica che stiamo vivendo.Sull’estrema urgenzadi intensificare la rispostaglobale per farfronte al problema diventa essenziale sensibilizzare l’opinionepubblica e consolidare la conoscenza di cause e conseguenzedel cambiamento climatico, rafforzando il dialogo tra scienza esocietà civile. Da vari sondaggi è emerso che la disinformazione,in un’epoca in cui la notizia è alla portata di tutti, è moltoelevata. Secondo uno studio condotto da Enea (Agenzia nazionaleper le nuove tecnologie, l’energia e lo sviluppo economicosostenibile) l’84% dei partecipanti crede che l’industria siail settore più inquinante mentre questo primato è del settoreenergetico. Solo il 21% è consapevole che il settore agricolo ètra i più impattanti per emissioni di carbonio, subito dopo quelloenergetico. Con il 42% di risposte corrette emerge una certaconsapevolezza che il trattamento rifiuti è tra gli ultimi settoriper emissioni di gas climalteranti. Per affrontare la doppia sfidadell’emergenza climatica e della pandemia mondiale di Covidche devasta le popolazioni e le economie e per aumentare lapreparazione e la resilienza ai disastri naturali e alle future pandemie,è imperativo che gli Stati agiscano in conformità con iprincipi alla base del diritto allo sviluppo e, per garantire che gliimpegni derivanti dalla COP26 non rimangano vuote promessema siano attuati nello spirito della Convenzione e dell’Accordodi Parigi, gli Stati parti devono garantire un rapido seguito,elaborando e rendendo pubblici piani di attuazione concreti.Un altro mondo è possibile, garantire lo stile di vita che fino adora tutti noi abbiamo avuto il privilegio di condurre è d’obbligonei confronti di coloro che da anni si battano per avere il dirittoa un Pianeta migliore.Angela Magnani9
