Moderna e Contemporanea pistoiese, progetto
sull’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea
storico.
COLLEZIONE DELLA FONDAZIONE CASSA DI
RISPARMIO DI PISTOIA E PESCIA
La Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia
e Pescia rappresenta la continuazione
storica della Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia
e Pescia: essa nasce nel giugno 1992 come
conseguenza del processo di ristrutturazione
e liberalizzazione del sistema bancario
italiano secondo le disposizioni della legge
Amato-Carli (n. 218 del 1990). Le fondazioni,
costituitesi a seguito di questo proces-
Between 2003 and 2014 the Cassa di
Risparmio di Pistoia e Pescia, the Comune
of Pistoia - Museo Civico and
the Province of Pistoia established the
‘Centro di Documentazione sull’Arte
Moderna e Contemporanea pistoiese’, a
noble endeavour that brought together
three agencies historically committed
to twentieth-century art, with the intention
of channelling resources toward a
shared objective: promoting exhibitions,
funding catalogues, sponsoring archival
campaigns, and other projects, spanning
1900-2000.
It was in this spirit of sensibility towards
twentieth-century art in Pistoia that the
Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia e Pescia
financed a volume edited by Carlo Sisi,
then Director of the ‘Centro di Documentazione’,
titled Arte del Novecento
Pistoia, with essays on various topics
covering the whole century, updating
and adding to the scholarship of the
pioneering exhibition La città e gli artisti
(1980): these are now invaluable
sources for anyone wishing to study this
historic period.
THE COLLECTION OF THE FONDAZIONE CASSA
DI RISPARMIO DI PISTOIA E PESCIA
The Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia
e Pescia (Savings Bank Foundation)
represents the historic extension of the
Cassa di Risparmio of the same name: it
was founded in June 1992, as a product of
the restructuring and liberalization of the
Italian banking system, according to the
Legge Amato-Carli (no. 218 of 1990). Such
Foundations, established in the wake of this
dipinti realizzati dall’artista Corrado Zanzotto
già oggetto di donazione alla Cassa di
Risparmio l’anno precedente.
consulenza importante.
Alfredo Fabbri, accolte direttamente dagli
Iacomelli, Sigfrido Bartolini X , Francesco
Melani XI .
libri, ritagli a stampa, corrispondenze,
process of privatization, inherited the institutional
mission of promoting ethical works
in support of the public good.
The origin of the Foundation’s art collection
goes back to 1992 with the transfer of the
drawings and paintings by Corrado Zanzotto
that had already been donated to the
Cassa di Risparmio the previous year. This
transfer established a line of continuity with
the Cassa di Risparmio, the Foundation’s
‘parent’, in the special attention to Pistoian
art that had been peculiar to the Cassa di
Risparmio.
In subsequent years, the Foundation worked
to bring together a representative collection
of Pistoian art through the centuries, relying
once more on the important expertise of
Sigfrido Bartolini.
Many have been the donations of art: the
works of Remo Gordigiani and of Alfredo
Fabbri, received directly from their heirs;
those of Aldo Frosin, pledged to the Foundation
in the artist’s lifetime. IX Private donations
have brought to the Foundation,
in addition to archival and bibliographical
materials, works by artists such as Agenore
Fabbri, Mirando Iacomelli, Sigfrido
Bartolini, X and Francesco Melani. XI
Among the most interesting multiple acquisitions
has been that of the works of Pietro
Bugiani (2006), which included not just
Bugiani’s own work (paintings, sculptures
and drawings) but also catalogues, books,
press clippings, correspondence, a sculpture
by Corrado Zanzotto and a Futurist painting
by Mario Nannini. The Fondazione Caript
dedicated an exhibition to Bugiani in 2015-
2016, Pietro Bugiani. Il Colore del tempo,
which was prompted by the conservation
of monumental drawings and preparatory
cartoons for his Adoration of the Shepherds,
painted in 1932 for the Monastery of
San Domenico.
