What is your favourite word? Boluda. What makes
you feel alive? Nam-Myoho Renge-Kyò. What is
your favourite place? My hometown, El Bolsón,
Patagonia Argentina. Which artist do you most
admire? I love Marina Abramovic. What is the
last book you read? “Cien Años de Soledad” by
Gabriel Garcia Marquez. What talent would you like
to have? The voice to sing a folk love song. What
would your ideal day be like? Good friends, good
weather, good tunes. What is your best childhood
memory? Back in the days, on the mountain with
my brother at the sky camp and Saturdays at the
hippie market. What or who would you like to be in
the next life? John Lennon. Which outfit would you
be happy to wear for the rest of your life? A pair
of heels! What is your greatest fear? Berlusconi
and The Pope. What is your greatest achievement?
When Givenchy called Riccardo (Tisci) to be their
Creative Director after four years of us working
together on his own label. What makes you cry?
China Sorrilla. What makes you laugh? China So-
rrilla. What makes a good friend? A good friend is
one that tells you everything about your best and
worst sides. Have you found true love? Yes, but only
in my best friends. Love is pain; I am Latino and
for me love is drama and jealousy. I’d rather have
lots of lovers than a boyfriend, because it means
less suffering. I don't know if I'll ever find true
love in a man... Don't think so. What does freedom
mean to you? Freedom is a state of mind. It's
something that one should earn. When was the last
time you helped a stranger? Today. What can’t you
live without? Potatos. What is the most beautiful
thing you have ever seen? The big reef in Australia
and my grandparents hometown, Beirut. What is
your favourite scent? Patchouli. Do you believe in
a deity? Not really, I believe in myself and I think,
as a practicing Buddhist, that everything which
surrounds us is the reflection of what we are inside.
We are all Buddha! Can you think of a fiction
character from a film or a book that you identify
with? Chloë Sevigny in Brown Bunny! What is the
greatest thing you have learned? That everything
you want is right there but you have to work hard
to get it. Who would you like to be kissed by? The
French guy covered in tattoos that I saw at the
beach in Sicily last summer. What is your greatest
obsession? My friend Devendra Banhart, his music
and the day that he told me that we will never
be apart. What do you do to make this planet a
better place? Many simple actions like smiling at
an unknown person. What beliefs and ideals guide
you through life? Simple straightforward values inspired
by Buddhist culture: respect, humility and
equality. How would you like to be remembered?
I would you like to be remembered as a guy who
brought people together. A man that didn't have the
possibility to study but managed to change the way
people communicate and relate to each other and
the world around them.
