Si presenta in pezzi, è molto appiccicosa e il colore è simile a quello dell’ambra con riflessi gialli-rossi-marroni. In Africa tropicale viene utilizzata dagli artigiani per riparare le stoviglie, mentre in India viene sostituita alla gomma arabica, con vari usi a partire da quello alimentare (per evitare la cristallizzazione degli zuccheri), a quello di collante per carta fino ad arrivare al lucido da scarpe.
