La corteccia possiede dal 16% al 20% di tannini ed è impiegata<br />

per tingere le pelli durante la concia.<br />

La gomma è una sostanza resinosa estratta dal tronco dell’albero<br />

di <strong>mango</strong>. Si presenta in pezzi, è molto appiccicosa e il colore<br />

è simile a quello dell’ambra con riflessi gialli-rossi-marroni. In Africa<br />

tropicale viene utilizzata dagli artigiani per riparare le stoviglie,<br />

mentre in India viene sostituita alla gomma arabica, con vari usi<br />

a partire da quello alimentare (per evitare la cristallizzazione degli<br />

zuccheri), a quello di collante per carta fino ad arrivare al lucido<br />

da scarpe.<br />
