SurReal Woman Manifesto
SurReal Woman Manifesto
Feminine, sensual, ironic and eclectic: the Pinko woman is a real, contemporary woman.
In full control of her life, she uses clothes to express every facet of her personality, exploring modern
trends in a completely personal, transverse, contemporary way.
Her beauty comes from movement: her body, the way she moves through life, and the materials in
the collection. Fringes, leather, lace, pleats and laser cuts: 3D elements that overlap and contrast,
representing in material form the temperament of the complex modern woman.
Her essence and appearance are in constant dialogue: a flawless exchange that creates her style.
The Pinko woman uses fashion ideas by moulding them to suit every occasion, every emotion. She
might be ultra-feminine in a pencil skirt, choose a masculine shirt for a formal occasion, feel romantic
in a ruched blouse or prefer the rigour of a military jacket.
She is one, she is a hundred thousand. More than real, she’s surreal. She’s a new species, a brandnew,
unique creature.

SHE-FI
1700, prima donna a ricevere uno stipendio come scienziata.
umano.
Science is feminine. “What I see in nature, its simplicity and its elegance, brings me to the idea of a higher intelligent mind, because nature is so
beautiful and the basic laws of physics are also extremely aesthetically pleasing, essential and, as we’d say in English, compelling: they justify
themselves almost on their own”. Fabiola Gianotti’s physics is tangible proof that the future is bright. Appointed as CERN’s Director-General in
2014, the first woman in the 61-year history of this Geneva research centre, she officially took charge on 1st January 2016.
Ms Gianotti studies the particles that formed the universe. Each meeting and collision between these particles in CERN’s giant collider is a piece in
the answer to the biggest question of all time. Her appointment, in terms of the here and now, is a milestone in women’s journey through science,
which has received extensive media coverage over the past year.
When we think about women in science, the great figures of the past immediately spring to mind. Caroline Herschel, the 18th century English astronomer,
who was the first woman to be paid for her scientific work. We think of the calculations which helped lead Ada Lovelace to develop computer
science. We think of the nuclear studies conducted by the Austrian, Lise Meitner, or we think of the Nobel Prizes won by Marie Curie, Dorothy Hodgkin
and Rita Levi-Montalcini. Great minds that were once an exception, an almost mythical female footnote in a man’s world. But today, no. We
live in a golden age for women in science: in 2014, the young Iranian, Maryam Mirzakhani, became the first woman to win the Fields Medal, the
most prestigious international award in mathematics. In 2015, Emmanuelle Charpentier became Director of the Max Planck Institute for Infection
Biology in Berlin: along with Jennifer A. Doudna, Ms Charpentier developed a way of modifying and editing any human genome. In other words: a
way of curing genetic diseases. Who knows what possibilities this will open up for the future.
Physics, mathematics and biogenetics: these are the life sciences that govern our world, the sciences which allow us to understand the present and
imagine the future. On Earth and on the Moon. Because women are making ever greater strides in space too. We have followed Samantha Cristoforetti’s
progress with great interest: the first Italian woman and the third European woman on the International Space Station. She has an impressive
CV: a degree in mechanical engineering and aviation, she is a trained top fighter pilot and can speak five languages fluently. Much of the
software she used on board the Space Station was developed by Dr Sarah Bourke. The Irish co-founder of Skytek is a superstar in software for safety
instruments and space emergency procedures. She is among the favourites for the EU Prize for Women Innovators 2016. But perhaps in the future
we will no longer need different gender award categories or maybe there will be male ones too. Because if any people have finally broken the
glass ceiling that supposedly separates women from the success of men, then it is the women of science who have done so. Exceptional beings,
superior minds, unique personalities, each with their own particular beauty. Intellectually speaking, of course, but not just that. As proven by Isis
Anchalee, another symbolic case of the great age we live in. Isis, a female computer engineer, was chosen to star in an advert for the company she
works for, Onelogin. The public’s reaction was unexpected: it’s not real, she’s too beautiful to be an engineer. She responded by promoting a Twitter
campaign with the hashtag #ILookLikeAnEngineer: hundreds of female scientists from all around the world joined her to fight one of the oldest
stereotypes in the world. If you’re beautiful, you can’t be intelligent. Does anyone really still believe this?
talking with You
by pietro negra
dove possa esprimersi e realizzarsi.
Pietro Negra, presidente Pinko.
A new century of development and energy is opening up today in front of our very eyes.
It is increasingly clear that this century has a feminine heart.
Our women are new beings, who reshape reality in their image and likeness day by day. Science,
technology, society, ideas, creativity: are these not perhaps all feminine terms? As is Nature, which
today more than ever is at the centre of global discussions. We live in a world that needs responsibility
and participation, a world that calls us to forge an ever closer relationship between human beings
and the environment. Similar to an embrace, or better still an ongoing dialogue, for which women are
the perfect moderators.
We thus imagine a better world in which women are at the centre of everything.
Pinko is already doing this. Pinko was created for its women and has grown together with them. It
has told their stories. Now more than ever, creating fashion means continuing to do this, because each
story is unique and amazing. Our responsibility is to listen to this new contemporary being and to understand
her needs. To dress the women leading our world while they envisage a new reality. We
want to build a natural habitat together with these women where they are free to move, to express
themselves and to fulfil their potential. Pinko is not just a brand or a store. It is a composite reality of
product, service, care, relationship and beauty.
The world is growing and so are women. Pinko wants to grasp every nuance to describe this new
world together, starting right from these pages. We are ready to live contemporary life and to shape
the future, together with every woman.
MUse
Arizona Muse.
Affettuosa, divertente, piuttosto distratta.
piedi, blu. Non è perfetto con le sneaker gialle?
La scarpa perfetta? Stivaletti alla caviglia con il tacco medio.
Come ti immagini fra 5 anni?
Cosa ti rende felice? I miei amici.
E cosa ti rende triste?
l’uno all’altro, di amarsi e aiutarsi a crescere.
influenzato? E come?
Io odio gli hippies! No, ovviamente scherzo!
Prato.
Se dico natura, dici… Scarpe da outdoor!
Se dico vita, tu dici… Meravigliosa!
Se dico futuro, tu dici… Yeah!
Qual è la tua abitudine segreta? Quella cosa che fai quando nessuno
ti guarda?
Londra
Arizona Muse. The American model, born 1988, is the face of Pinko’s
Spring/Summer 2016.
What are the 3 adjectives that represent you best?
Loving, fun, somewhat forgetful.
What’s a contemporary woman?
One who manages to make it look easy to have a job, raise kids and
have a happy marriage.
What’s contemporary in fashion?
Freedom. Express yourself freely using your clothes. You can know
perfectly all the fashion trends, surfing them without any obsession.
Using your personal taste to build your own style. That’s what I
appreciate most in Pinko: in their collections you can choose and
adapt the clothes with a styling that fits your body and your soul.
What’s your personal idea of femininity?
Being something that a man loves.
What do you like the best in fashion?
Boots and jackets. In this Pinko SS 16 collection I especially love the
biker jacket with the lace details and the light-weight, ankle length,
blue coat. Aren’t they amazing with those yellow sneakers?
The perfect shoes? Ankle boot with a low heel.
What if you imagine you in 5 years from now?
Married, another child, more than just a model, hopefully my own
business.
One more of each thing on the previous list, except for the marriage!
I’d like to just have one of those.
What does make you happy? My friends.
And what does make you sad? Being lonely sometimes.
The biggest dream?
Pretty simple actually, to have a happy family and a steady career.
And the biggest fear?
To become grumpy and melancholy when I’m old.
Who is Arizona in her personal life?
Fun and honest and in awe of my friends.
And how is she in her professional life?
Calm and well natured...
I try to bring fun into my work too if I can.
What’s your idea of friendship?
Friendship should be easy in my opinion. It should be uncomplicated
and never need explaining. And Non judgmental.
What’s your idea of love?
True Love takes and deserves more work than friendship. There
should be a fundamental ease but also a willingness to pay attention
to love and help it to grow.
What’s your idea of beauty?
I find the 1940’s made up look extraordinary. I love it.
What’s your idea of success?
Receiving recognition for what you’ve achieved. This could be as small
as a simple compliment from a colleague. I don’t think you need to
receive an award to have attained success.
What are the most important values in life?
Honesty, and loyalty to yourself- more than to other people.
You grew up in Santa Fe, the heart of the American hippie culture: did
it influence you? And how?
I hate hippies. Just kidding. I love all things
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Give my son a kiss.
And the last before going to bed?
Give my boyfriend a kiss.
When I say flower you say… Field.
When I say nature you say… Outdoor shoes!
When I say life you say? Amazing!
When I say future you say? Yay!
What’s your “secret habit”? The thing you do only when no one’s
watching? I inspect my skin way too often!
What would constitute a perfect day for you?
Sleeping in (maybe in a hotel)... Eggs for breakfast. Exercise, then a
long lunch with friends and perhaps a cheeky glass of wine, before a
stroll through a museum or a walk through the park, then maybe a
little shopping before going home for a wardrobe change, ready for
a sexy date night!
For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
My son, family, friends, London!
