The inner space is developed perpen<strong>di</strong>cularto the mihrab, in contrast to the requirements of the worshiprituals of the Islamic belief.The mosque with naves is a widely used scheme used in Anatolia.Although there are variations, it is accepted that thereare three <strong>di</strong>stinct types of 12th century Mosques. These are:1. The equal size naves (in width and height) with courtyardsin front of the main space. Konya great Mosque and SivasGreat Mosque.2. The inner space formed by parallel naves to the mihraband which have a <strong>di</strong>stinct space in front of the mihrab. HarputGreat Mosque, Urfa Great Mosque, Bitlis Great Mosque,Mar<strong>di</strong>n Great Mosque, Cizre Great Mosque, Kızıltepe GreatMosque ve Silvan Great Mosque .3. The inner space composed either by naves parallel or perpen<strong>di</strong>cularto the mihrab, which have at the centre of the centralnave a light hole and which lack a courtyard at the northernside of the main space.
