RUPESTRIAN MOSQUES OF ORTAHISARCRHIMA-CINP projectFig. 19 Alaad<strong>di</strong>n Mosque, beginning of 20th century (Municipality Archive).Alaad<strong>di</strong>n MosqueThe buil<strong>di</strong>ng is in Camii Atik (Old Mosque) Neighbourhood.The Ottoman inscription gives H.1274/(1857) date. There areso many spoiled material around the buil<strong>di</strong>ng. It is believedthat this buil<strong>di</strong>ng replaced an earlier buil<strong>di</strong>ng.The buil<strong>di</strong>ng is composed of two parts (Summer and Wintersections). Winter section has two naves, constructed with ashlar.It has gable roof. Alaad<strong>di</strong>n Mosque is situated at the skirtsof Ortahisar Castle in Atik/Eski Mahalle (Old Neighborhood).The Mosque is situated between two streets on a slopy terrainon the skirts of the castle.Alaad<strong>di</strong>n Mosque is composed of two sections.These areWinter and Summer Mosques. On the contrary to the ÇukurMosque, in Alaad<strong>di</strong>n Mosque these sections are two <strong>di</strong>fferentbuil<strong>di</strong>ngs. Main part of the Winter Section is rock carved.There is a street between Summer and Winter Mosques, wheresummer house is masonry. The Winter Mosque is <strong>di</strong>vided intotwo spatial sections. These sections <strong>di</strong>splay two <strong>di</strong>fferent constructionphases. The first part is mainly rock carved, howeverparts of its is filled with masonry walls. This part has an irregularform.
