P a g e 2INSPIRE AwardsIn September, the INSPIRE GrantAwards Panel awarded $13,235 tothree organizations focused on engagingneighbors and enhancing quality oflife in selected neighborhoods.Unity Gardens, Inc. received $5000 forplans to increase neighborhood cohesionand involvement in the City’s largestand most public Unity Garden locatedin LaSalle Square on the City’swest side.The Lincoln Way West Gateway Association(LWWGA) received $3500 tofund a series of outreach efforts to attractmore neighbors to the LaSalleBranch Library and to engage them inthe design and planning of programsoffered at the Branch with the goal ofpreventing the branch closing becauseof its importance to the quality of lifefor the LWWGA residents.Nature’s 8 Health Consortium, a collaborationof Near West Side neighborsand various community organizationsreceived $4735 to implement initiativesto improve health and wellness, particularlyamong minorities, in theneighborhood and the community.Technical Assistance Grant AwardsThe final 2010 application deadline isDecember 3, but we’re pleased to announce2011 deadline dates:March 25 - June 24—September 16 -December 2Sign up for our weekly NRC E-Newsand/or check our website,www.nrc4neighborhoods.org forINPSIRE application mandatory workshopdates.For more information about INSPIREgrant applications, please contact Dianaat 287.0425 orinfo@nrc4neighborhoods.org.How Can NRC Help You?In October, the NRC awarded over $4000 in Technical Assistance grants to twoneighborhood associations and one newly forming Community Land Trust.The North Shore Triangle Neighborhood Association received $1500 for 501c3filing, neighborhood banners, newsletter printings, and website development.Request was submitted by board president, Barbara Sutton.The River Park Neighborhood Association received $1490 for website development,technical training, and consulting plus board development facilitation. Requestwas submitted by Barbara Wade, RPNA vice president of communications.Two Fish & Five Loaves , a newly forming community land trust, was awarded$1180 for 501c3 filing and website development. The organization plans to focusneighborhood development on the City’s southeast side.
