Actions SpeakLouder than WordsTWO YEARS OF PRESIDENT SANTOS – THE MURDERS CONTINUEl In his August 7th 2010 inauguration speech Colombian President JuanManuel Santos promised that his Government would have a “firm and unwaveringcommitment” to human rights and stated that “respect for life is a sacred principle”.Since then Colombia’s reality has not matched the rhetoric.l Trade unionists, human rights defenders, opposition politicians, community andindigenous leaders continue to be assassinated; their voices silenced.On average, one person is being assassinated every three days.l Several of the victims, including children, were killed by the Colombiansecurity forces.
