About <strong>South</strong> <strong>Texas</strong> <strong>College</strong>In 17 short years, <strong>South</strong> <strong>Texas</strong> <strong>College</strong>has grown from 1,000 students to anenrollment of approximately 30,000 andhas conferred degrees and certificatesto almost 20,000 graduates. STC, oneof the most prominent communitycolleges in the nation, is committed tostudent learning as the foundation ofstudent success through excellencein teaching and service, faculty andstaff empowerment, professionaldevelopment and accountability.STC students can choose frommore than 100 degree and certificateprogram options in a variety of liberalart, social science, allied health, math,science, business and technologyfields of study. The <strong>College</strong> is one ofonly three <strong>Texas</strong> community collegesaccredited to offer bachelor’s degrees inapplied technology, and currently offersdegrees in technology management,and computer and informationtechnologies. And for graduates whowish to continue their educationbeyond the <strong>College</strong>’s offerings, STC hasmore than 60 articulation agreementswith colleges and universities across thenation.Dual enrollment programs, includingearly college high schools, academiesand drop-out recovery, are offeredin partnership with school districtsthroughout Hidalgo and Starr counties.Approximately 9,000 high schoolstudents are earning college creditwhile in high school because of dualenrollment opportunities with STC.The Continuing, Professional andWorkforce Education Program providesopportunities for lifelong learners toupgrade skills, change careers, renewlicenses and certifications, or seekpersonal enrichment. Additionally, thedivision offers customized training toarea businesses, industries and thecommunitySTC is the fiscal agent and home of theexecutive offices for the North AmericanAdvanced Manufacturing Research andEducation Initiative.
