517.4.2 CAL: CalibrationCalibrating the micromotor automatically setsthe rotational speed in order to ensure torqueprecision. Calibration is necessary:• after replacing the micromotor,• after replacing, cleaning or autoclaving theVDW 6:1 contra-angle, but at least once per week(see also the separate operating instructionsfor the VDW 6:1 contra-angle).Starting Calibration1. Put the VDW 6:1 contra-angle on the micromotor(without file).2. Press the CAL key. The calibration processwill begin, and the following message will bedisplayed.Aborting CalibrationThe calibration procedure can be halted at anytime by pressing the foot pedal or any key onthe keypad. The display will then read:Possible Error MessagesIf calibration cannot be correctly performed orcompleted, the display will read:Details on possible error messages such asERROR 1 or ERROR 2 can be found in Chapter 10:TROUBLESHOOTING.enThe micromotor will automatically measure theinertia of the contra-angle by starting at minimumrotational speed and accelerating to maximumspeed.3. The procedure stops automatically as soon ascalibration is complete (all black bars are visibleon the display).7.4.3 ASR: Automatic Stop ReverseNOTEThe ASR function (automatic stop andreversal of rotational direction) can only beactivated in rotary mode. In reciprocationmode, the ASR function is auto-maticallydeactivated (LED off).WARNINGS• Never press the CAL key while the deviceis in use.• Calibrate the device without files. Themicromotor accelerates from minimum tomaximum rotational speed during calibration.• Use only the VDW 6:1 contra-angle withthe VDW.GOLD ® RECIPROC ® . The precisionof the torque, the rotational speed and thelength determination are only ensured if theVDW 6:1 contra-angle is used.ASR is active (green LED) in rotary mode ondelivery.Selection of Different ASR Functions in RotaryModeYou can select different ASR functions by pressingthe ASR key. The LED light will change colour dependingon the function selected:Green: When the preset torque value has beenreached, the micromotor will automatically rotatein the opposite direction (counter-clockwise). Assoon as the file stops meeting resistance, the micromotorwill automatically begin running forwards(clockwise) again.Red: The micromotor will automatically rotate inthe opposite direction (counter-clockwise) withouttorque control.Endo Easy Efficient ®
