Maximum values for theVDW.GOLD ® RECIPROC ® are well under thelimits set by IEC 60601-1:2005. Nonetheless,in rare cases, these currents can cause patientsto feel pain. Should this occur, discontinuethe length determination process.• Should any irregularities occur whenusing the device, switch the micromotoroff and contact your service centre.Components and Accessories• Only use the included lip clip cable withthe ferrite ring.• Only use the VDW 6:1 contra-angle withthe VDW.GOLD ® RECIPROC ® . The precisionof the torque, the rotational speed and thelength determination are only ensured if theVDW 6:1 contra-angle is used.The micromotor changes rotational speedfrom the minimum to the maximum valueduring calibration. Do not insert any filesduring calibration.• Always calibrate after the VDW 6:1 contraanglehas been cleaned and sterilized, or atleast once per week (see separate operatinginstructions for the VDW 6:1 contra-angle).• Precision of the micromotor’s motion isonly guaranteed if the original VDW 6:1contra-angle is used and properly maintained.When maintaining the contra-angle,please prevent lubricant from penetratingthe micromotor. Lubricant can damage themicromotor and negatively affect its abilityto operate safely. Before maintenance, readthe separate operating instructions for theVDW 6:1 contra-angle as well as chapter8.1 Maintenance in this manual.• Do not insert any foreign objects into themicromotor shaft.• Excessive application of force can causethe micromotor to overheat. If the micromotoroverheats too often or fails to cooldown after overheating, contact your servicecentre.• Before starting the micromotor, makesure the settings are correct. The file systemindicated on the display must alwayscorrespond to the file being used. This isextremely important in order to preventreciprocating files from being used in rotarymode and vice versa.• Only use endodontic NiTi instrumentswith metal shafts for combined lengthdetermination.• Follow the instructions given in thefile manufacturer’s manual when usingendodontic NiTi instruments. These are notincluded in delivery.• Never use rotating files in reciprocatingmode. Check the mode shown on the displaybefore use.• Never use reciprocating files in rotarymode. Check the mode shown on thedisplay before use.• Torque and rotational-speed values canbe changed by the file manufacturers withoutprior notice. The preinstalled valuesmust therefore be checked in the library beforeuse. The values shown on the displayare only precise and reliable in combinationwith a correctly maintained and lubricatedVDW 6:1 contra-angle.• VDW.GOLD ® RECIPROC ® may not beconnected to or used in combination withother devices or systems. It may not beused as a component for another device orsystem. Never connect external PC storagemedia (e.g. hard drives) to the VDW.GOLD ®RECIPROC ® via the USB port. The USB portis exclusively intended for use by authorizedpersonnel for purposes of maintenance orsoftware updates.
