EN“Museum Communicator” (Mu.Com.) is a tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Projectfocused on the development of a professional profile calledthe Museum Communicator. This role is becom<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>gly important both <strong>in</strong>side the Museums and also <strong>in</strong>relat<strong>in</strong>g to the cultural associations and agencies manag<strong>in</strong>gmuseums.There is a need to have a specific tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g programme forMuseum Communicators that will enable them to bestpromote the activities of the museums to the general publicas well the mass media. However, there is a grow<strong>in</strong>g need tohave skilled, tra<strong>in</strong>ed persons who can create and susta<strong>in</strong> l<strong>in</strong>kswith all the other local, national and European organisationsand <strong>in</strong>stitutions who can contribute to the long term successof the museum. This <strong>in</strong>cludes the policy makers as well as theprivate and voluntary sector <strong>in</strong>volvement.The Museum Communicator is under development <strong>in</strong>sidesome of the larger national museums who have dedicatedstaff teams and resources. But often this professional profile isnot available <strong>in</strong> the small and middle-sized Museums. Theresult is that people are often tak<strong>in</strong>g on the role as part oftheir other duties and without any specific tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g.The “Museum Communicator” tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Project has twotargets. Adults employed <strong>in</strong> Museums who need to developspecific competences <strong>in</strong> the field of communication. Alsoyoung people access<strong>in</strong>g the labour market and who need<strong>in</strong>itial tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> order to build up their answer to the presentchallenges of a peculiar market as that of the “culturalenterprise" is.The Project is develop<strong>in</strong>g a course based on an <strong>in</strong>novativemethodology that utilises new ITC technologies.
