Queste tre fasi ci parlano nello
stesso modo, in qualunque luogo del mondo.
Pertanto, contrariamente all’opinione tradizionale che colloca
tutti i suoi formati.
narrativa cinematografica, riferita sempre in misura maggiore
L’immagine
Therefore, contrary to the traditional opinion that places the
debate within the field of technological development or among
those who control content, today and in the years to come the
debate will focus on moving from linear to transversal communication,
in which the user will be he who rules the time/duration
of narration until reaching the extreme of narration itself
and creating an interminable work.
Globalization will increasingly more often pose the problem of
how to convert any content into product and how this product
will have to be seen and consumed in all of its formats. The
dialectic between man and product will dissolve more and more
until it will no longer be recognizable, even if there is critical
desire to identify it. If the work is not conceived and created as
product, there will be no communication between the work and
the receiver, because it will not arrive at its destination, to the
citizen who is not very capable of clearly understanding what
we are speaking of. And even if he does understand, it may not
even interest him.
But let us return to the 1960s, in which a certain interest for the
critical analysis of cinematic language began to develop. That
which is agitated are theories on concepts that intervene more or
less around what is cinematic fact. These are approximations and
analyses of cinematic narrative, always referring more or less to
literary narrative and originating from hybrid conclusions, the
result of two languages that are as different from one another as
they are unique.
Literature moves through a landscape of signs and through accumulation
can increase its level of information. The image is much
closer to the declared. In the first instance, the discourse is
monodic, in the other, polyphonic. These are two entirely differentiated
levels. Cinema functions on time, space and perspective.
In literature, on the other hand, interpretation is derived not from
a spatial situation but through developing intersected signs that
produce a discourse in which, theoretically, nothing is visualized.
In a moving image, the iconographic signs are confused with the
object itself. In cinema, we have the sensation of authenticity
seemingly approaching reality, pulling us away from fiction, yet
the exact opposite happens – it is artifice and fiction that bring
us towards the sensitive comprehension of reality. Cinema is
always seen in the present. There is a bi-temporal aspect to it, a
dislocation between the temporality that can be attributed to the
real facts when they are confirmed – if they are confirmed – and
cinematic temporality.
Based on this concept, is makes little sense to discuss whether certain
structural aspects or methods of cinema are better or worse,
to arrive at establishing whether cinema can be, more or less, cinema.
It is similar to contemplating painting and, knowing that
the canvas is a flat surface, discussing whether it is better to begin
with the bi-dimensionality of the medium – for example, in the
constructivism of Malevich or Mondrian – or if to refer to the
depth and tri-dimensionality obtained through perspective, in
fact destroying the superficial, flat nature of the canvas. The most
important thing is the final result: the functionality of the method
that is adopted within the developed language.
Cinema requires a synthesis that has no equivalents in literature.
Within it converge: editing; camera movements; language; literature
in the use of dialogue or off-camera voices that narrate or
can develop an extraneous and acinematic discourse; music that
can be integrated as an accessory to the action but can also serve
as a discourse extraneous to the images inserted afterwards; and
