Dorotea è una ragazza di 17 anni, lavora in una lavanderia
e si prende cura dell’anziana nonna Eugenia. Il padre della
giovane è Eduardo, affetto dal morbo di Parkinson,
appena uscito di prigione, che vive in un ricovero dell’esercito
della salvezza sopravvivendo con le elemosine. Tre
generazioni, tre personaggi soli e persi che vivono cercando
almeno di stare insieme per difendersi e per riscattarsi.
“Il film parla della difficoltà di essere con altri individui e
della paura di essere soli; della disperata necessità che tutti
abbiamo di rompere finalmente con l’alienazione che ci
separa dal mondo e dagli altri; di un’anima chiusa nella
sua cassa nera, nella bara della vita; della morte desiderata
senza sapere niente di più; del modo in cui può essere
trasmesso l’amore nella sua pienezza, senza sforzi né parole,
semplicemente essendoci. Ho voluto mostrare le
costanti esplosioni di bellezza che questa esistenza produce,
aprendo le scatole nere e riunendo le anime solitarie”.

Biografia
Luis Ortega è nato a Buenos Aires nel 1980 in una famiglia
di artisti; sua madre, che in Monobloc interpreta Marilyn,
come pure i suoi fratelli e le sue sorelle, sono attori, mentre
il padre è il cantante e attore Palito Ortega. Dopo aver
trascorso sette anni negli Stati Uniti, è tornato in Argentina
dove ha studiato filosofia e cominciato a coltivare la
passione per il cinema e il teatro. A diciannove anni comincia
a scrivere Caja negra che terminerà nel 2002. Ha diretto
anche spot pubblicitari. Il suo prossimo film sarà Recuerdos
desde mi muerte.

Dorotea is a 17 year-old girl who works in a laundromat and
takes care of her elderly grandmother Eugenia. Dorotea’s father
Eduardo, who has Parkinson’s Disease, has just been released
from prison and lives on charity at a Salvation Army shelter.
Three generations, three lonely and lost characters, try to at least
stick together in order to defend and redeem themselves.
“The film speaks of the difficulty of being with other people and
the fear of being alone; of the desperate need we all to have to
break away once and for all from the alienation that separates us
from the world and from others; of a soul locked up in its black
box, in the coffin of life; of desiring death without knowing anything
more about it; of the way in which love can be conveyed
fully, effortlessly and wordlessly, simply by being.I wanted to
show the constant explosions of beauty that this existence creates,
opening up the black boxes and reuniting lonely souls.”

Biography
Luis Ortega was born in Buenos Aires in 1980 to a family of
artists. His mother (who plays Marilyn in Monobloc), like his
brothers and sisters, acts, while his father is singer/actor Palito
Ortega. After living in the US for seven years, he returned to
Argentina where he studied philosophy and began cultivating a
passion for film and theatre. At 19, he began writing Caja
negra, which he finished in 2002. He has also directed commercials.
His next film will be Recuerdos desde mi muerte.
