H.I.J.O.S. è un’organizzazione di giovani argentini che
hanno perso i loro familiari, assassinati durante la dittatura
del 1976-1983. Questo documentario mostra la preparazione
e lo svolgimento delle azioni dell’associazione e
soprattutto indica la necessità di non dimenticare e di continuare
a ricercare e colpire i carnefici, peraltro salvati in
varie occasioni dai presidenti Alfonsin e Menem attraverso
leggi speciali compiacenti e tese a obliare la verità.
“Le fotografie sono un punto chiave nel film, una delle
poche testimonianze che i protagonisti hanno della vita dei
loro genitori. Ci sono quelli che con le fotografie fanno
arte, quelli che le usano in maniera catartica, quelli che non
le hanno. Ci sono le storie di ognuno, in una specie di terapia
di gruppo che raramente diventa sentimentale. Vediamo
i figli di H.I.J.O.S. induriti dai colpi: ventenni che non
cercano compassione ma giustizia, che non vogliono pietà
ma convertirsi in una vera memoria attiva (...). Sono un
gruppo vitale agguerrito che non pensa di abbassare le
braccia nella lotta, affinché non si dimentichino gli orrori
vissuti in questo paese. H.I.J.O.S. vince la sua scommessa.

Biografia
Regista, produttrice e antropologa, Carmen Guarini nel
1988 ha preso un dottorato in cinema antropologico in Francia
sotto la direzione di Jean Rouch. Ha realizzato seminari
con Fernando Birri e Jorge Prelorán, partecipato a numerosi
incontri e scritto più di cento articoli sul cinema documentario.
Insieme a Marcelo Céspedes ha fondato il Cine Ojo.
Regista e produttore, Marcelo Céspedes, ha diretto il
Dipartimento di ricerca cinematografica dell’università di
Buenos Aires. Docente in varie scuole argentine e straniere,
ad esempio a Cuba e in Spagna.

H.I.J.O.S. is an organization of young Argentineans who have
lost family members that were assassinated during the dictatorship
of 1976-1983. The documentary shows the preparation and
implementation of the association’s actions, which, above all,
indicates the need to not forget and to continue to seek out and
punish the murderers, who have moreover been protected on
numerous occasions by presidents Alfonsin and Menem through
special laws created to conceal the truth.
“Photographs are a key element of this film, of the few pieces of
proof that these people have of their parents’ lives. There are those
who create art from the photographs, those who use them for
cathartic purposes, those who don’t have any. Each person’s story
is included, in a kind of group therapy that rarely becomes
sentimental. We see that the children of H.I.J.O.S. have become
hardened: they are 20 year-olds who seek justice rather than
compassion, who do not want pity but to turn themselves into a
living memory. (...). They are an inured, vital group that has no
intentions of giving up the fight, so that the horrors experienced
in this country will not be forgotten. H.I.J.O.S. rises to its challenge.

Biography
A director, producer and anthropologist, in 1988 Carmen Guarini
got a PhD in anthropological cinema in France under Jean
Rouch. She has held seminars with Fernando Birri and Jorge
Prelorán, participated in numerous film events and written over
100 articles on documentaries. She founded Cine Ojo with
Marcelo Céspedes.
Director and producer Marcelo Céspedes headed the Department
of Film Research at the University of Buenos Aires. He is a professor
at various Argentinean and international schools, e.g.,
Cuba and Spain.
