IL CINEMA ARGENTINO CONTEMPORANEO
È un onore e un piacere per me, come presidente dell’Istituto
di cinema argentino, presentare – attraverso queste
righe – il focus che questo festival offre al nostro cinema
la cui partecipazione si svolgerà in due retrospettive:
una selezione delle migliori opere degli ultimi dieci anni
e sette film di uno dei più geniali registi della nostra storia,
Leonardo Favio.
Fabbriche chiuse e altre recuperate, adolescenti in situazioni
a rischio e d’emarginazione, figli che cercano di
costruire i legami strappatigli dal terrorismo di Stato –
l’attentato più grande nella storia del nostro paese –, il
carcere, i processi d’immigrazione e d’emigrazione, fino
ai migliori goal di Diego Armando Maradona, saranno
alcune delle storie di cui potrete godere nella “Retrospettiva
argentina”. Giungeranno a voi anche alcune delle
più riuscite manifestazioni artistiche dell’esponente più
completo e prolifico del cinema argentino: Leonardo
Favio, regista, sceneggiatore, attore, cantante, produttore
e, fondamentalmente, una persona profondamente legata
alla nostra storia.
Il cinema è per noi proprio questo: la nostra storia trasposta
in immagini che attraggono gli spettatori più diversi in
altrettanti confini del mondo; il nostro cinema è il prodotto
d’una storia di lavoro, di sforzo e di talenti accompagnato –
da qualche anno – da un’adeguata e attiva politica di Stato
che, in ambiti diversi – dalla decisa politica in materia di
diritti umani fino allo sviluppo dell’attività cinematografica
– mostra una profonda convinzione e un impegno totale nella
ricostruzione della nostra identità. Perché solo sapendo
chi siamo e da dove veniamo potremo abbracciarci con gli
altri popoli del mondo.

It is an honor and pleasure for me, as president of the Institute
of Argentinean cinema, to present, in these few paragraphs, the
focus on Argentinean films that the Pesaro Film Festival is offering
through two retrospectives: a selection of the best works of
the last ten years, along with seven films by one of the most brilliant
directors in our history, Leonardo Favio.
Closed factories and other reopened ones; marginalized adolescents
in at-risk situations; children trying to reconstruct the
ties shattered by state terrorism, the largest assault in country’s
history; jail, the processes of immigration and emigration;
through to the best goals of Diego Armando Maradona. These
will be just some of the stories you will be able to enjoy in the
Argentinean retrospective.
You will also be able to enjoy the artistry of the most complete
and prolific filmmaker of Argentinean cinema, Leonardo Favio: a
director, screenwriter, singer, producer and, fundamentally, a
person profoundly tied to our past.
To us, this is precisely what cinema is: our history transposed
into images that attract the most diverse audiences from all corners
of the world. Our films are the product of work, effort and
talent, accompanied, for several years now, by adequate and
active state policies that, in different circles – from the political
decision with regards to human rights to the development of various
film activities – show a profound conviction and total commitment
to reconstructing our identity. Because only by knowing
who we are and where we are going can we truly embrace the
other peoples of the world.
