EDEN
Gregor, uno chef decisamente sovrappeso, manda avanti un
piccolo ristorante nella periferia di una città. Nel tempo libero
si reca in un bar dove viene servito da Eden, una donna
sposata che ha una sorella con la sindrome di Down. Un
giorno Gregor, molto affezionato alla sorella di Eden, decide
di preparare un dolce al cioccolato. Eden impazzisce letteralmente
per quella cioccolata. A quel punto le cose tra i
due cambieranno. Film sull’amore e l’arte del cucinare.
“Il progetto è nato dal desiderio di scrivere una storia su
un cuoco grosso e grasso. Un giorno, mi sono state servite
dieci portate cucinate da un cuoco favoloso e completamente
pazzo, Frank Oehler. È arrivato alla mia tavola e ha
detto sorridendo: è meglio del sesso, no? Io e il mio amico
abbiamo annuito senza voce e in quel momento mi sono
reso conto che un buon pranzo può cambiare la vita (come
ogni opera d’arte)”.

Biografia
Michael Hofmann, regista-sceneggiatore tedesco è nato nel
1961, ha scritto molto e soggiornato a lungo in Italia, Gran
Bretagna, Senegal e in Francia (come studente della Femis)
e ha diretto molti cortometraggi prima di realizzare il suo
lungometraggio d’esordio, Trouville Beach (1998). Con il
suo secondo film, Sophiiiie! (2002), in concorso a Locarno,
ha ricevuto un premio promozionale al festival di Monaco.
Eden è il suo terzo film.

Gregor, a decidedly overweight chef, runs a small restaurant in
the city outskirts. He spends his free time in a bar, being served
by Eden, a married woman with a sister who has Down’s syndrome.
One day, Gregor, who likes Eden’s sister, decides to prepare
her a chocolate dessert. Their relationship changes from that
moment on. A film about love and the art of cooking.
“Eden started with the idea of writing about a big fat chef. I once
had a ten-course meal cooked by a wild and crazy chef named
Frank Oehler. He came to the table where my friend and I were
eating in silence and said, smilingly, 'It's better than sex, isn't
it?' We nodded, speechless, and I realised that a great meal can
change your life (like any great piece of art).”

Biography
Born in 1961, German director/scriptwriter Michael Hofmann
has written a lot about and spent much time in Italy, Great
Britain, Senegal and France. He made several short films before
he finally directed his first feature, Der Strand von Trouville
(1998). His second film, Sophiiiie! (2002), earned him the Promotional
German Film Award at the Munich Film Festival and
was screened at Locarno. Eden is his third feature.
