FILIPINO DIGITAL Joel Ruiz MANSYON The Mansion (t.l.: La villa) Una domestica di nome Dolores e suo marito Ambo, giardiniere, vengono assunti per occuparsi di una villa mentre i proprietari sono in viaggio per una lunga vacanza. Dopo aver trascorso dei giorni noiosi, Dolores ha un piccolo incidente e in quell’istante “cambia pelle”, comincia a vivere come se fosse un’altra donna, mettendo in discussione sia il suo passato che la relazione con il marito. “Ho scritto Mansyon per indagare su come spazi e luoghi influenzino le persone. Una coppia è catapultata in un luogo distante e alieno alla realtà di tutti i giorni. Il film perciò esplora i cambiamenti che avvengono nella relazione dei due coniugi. Nonostante ci sia moltissimo da dire sul grande divario tra le classi sociali nelle Filippine, Mansyon è più una love story che mostra ciò che è necessario affinché due persone riescano a ricongiungersi”. Joel Ruiz Biografia Dopo essersi laureato in comunicazione, Joel Ruiz ha lavorato svolgendo diversi ruoli per la produzioni di film e video. Nel 2000 ha fondato insieme ad altri la Arkeofilms, una società di produzione indipendente specializzata in film digitali. After several boring days, Dolores has a small accident and suddenly changes: she begins to live as if she were another woman, questioning both her past and her relationship with her husband. “I wrote Mansyon to explore how spaces and places affect people. In my film, two people are thrown in a place far removed from their own reality, and this film explores the changes in their relationship. Although there is a lot to say about the great divide between social classes in Philippine society, the film is more of a love story, about what it takes for two people to reconnect.” Joel Ruiz Biography After graduating in Communications, Joel Ruiz worked various jobs in video and film production. In 2000, he co-founded Arkeofilims, an independent film production company specializing in digital films.
