Sound at an early stage of the history of cinema:Cinematography incorporates in itself almost all traditionalart genres, which have moved into the cinema as if they weredesigned for it from the very beginning. Music has a veryspecial role among them. Music, actually, always accompanieddramatic theatrical performances or activities. But in cinemamusic acquired much wider importance than it ever had in theframework of theatrical art.2. Silent movie with sound:In silent movies music replaced the speech and filled thesilent vacuum. Silent movie with sound still interests modernresearchers. The diversity of the range of sound in silent movieswas wide. Piano players – mainly it was their mission to bringsound in them. Special musical scores have appeared whichserved as musical illustration of different episodes in varioussilent movies.3. The contrapuntal role of music (Eisenstein):A big dispute started in the world of cinema with theintroduction of sound. Many believed that the sound wouldkill the plastics of the art of cinema and would convert it intosomething static, while with the introduction of speech anddialogue cinema would converge with theatre. Eisensteinshowed from a new point of view the importance of sound andin particular of music for cinematography.
