Co. was established by Ivano Gerardi Sr.in 1971 with a background of 20 years experience in allkinds of machine shop throughout Canada and U.S.A.The company was the firstto design and develope acomplete steel modularworkholding system whichgave international worldwidesuccesThe company has recently moved into a new4.000 m² building (roughly 44.000 square feet ) in closeproximity to the new Milan Intercontinental AirportMalpensa 2000.After almost 10 years of 24 hours a day production(from ‘82 to ‘91), during which the company grew tobecome the largest Italian vise manufacturer, oneof the leaders in the European Common Market andthe quality of its products and solutions had been developedand known all over the world, the company graduallychanged its production organization leaving themilling, drilling and tapping operations to subcontractcompanies concentrating itself on the grinding operation:the most important as regards to adding value and toensure precision and reliable delivery times.Meanwhile, for internal needs, the company had todevelope its own Grinding machine, unable to findthe right one on the market. A totally new concept was atthe base of the project: wheel change, cover wheel change,two tables (1 for working, 1 for loading and unloading),orientable C.N.C. wheelhaed creep-feed operations.The new machine was exibited at the Milano machinetool show in 1990 and since then the research anddevelopment of the grinding technologies have neverstopped.In the same period the company estabilished ajoint-venture in China for the manufacturing of partsand kind of vises. This company has got theISO 9001:2000 quality certification and is developpingAsia the same excellent results already achieved alsoin Europe as far as leadership.Moreover Gerardi S.p.A. has estabilished a worldwidesales of Angle Heads for traditional machine tools andmachining centers and Driven Tools for C.N.C. lathes. Usingits well known image and its selling channels together withworldwide marketing efforts, the company began trading andbrought a the production from few pieces to thousands andsuch technologies to be known and sold all over the world.Today the best markets for such range of productsare U.S.A, Germany and Japan and the final users are thebest known companies in their own sectors (Rolls Royce,Ferrari, Boeing etc.).After the set up of a subsidiary Co. in the U.S.A., namelyGerardi U.S.A., LLC in Chicago (IL), a new German branch,Gerardi GMBH, has been recently estabilished in theStuttgard proximity in order to penetrate and service betterand better the German market.Of course this meant a huge financial effort and investment,but the fast evolution and continuous adjustment to highcompetitive markets has always been the main GerardiS.p.A. charateristic feature.Today the Gerardi S.p.A.
