E io oggi, nel 2007,ho l’onore di festeggiare <strong>da</strong> presidente il centenario dellanostra banca al pos<strong>to</strong> di Angelo Terraneo, che dopoanni di grandi risultati, alla scadenza del terzo man<strong>da</strong><strong>to</strong>,ha deciso di passare la mano rimanendo <strong>com</strong>unquenella nostra famiglia <strong>com</strong>e consigliere. Io sono il ses<strong>to</strong>presidente della s<strong>to</strong>ria e spero di non deludere nessuno».Nella giornata di festa della Cassa Rurale ed Artigiana diCantù non sono mancati giochi e spettacoli per bambinie ragazzi fin <strong>da</strong>l mattino, nei pressi della sede centraledella banca, in corso Unità d’Italia. Presentati anchei due volumi realizzati per il centenario: “1907-2007.Una banca, la sua s<strong>to</strong>ria”, scrit<strong>to</strong> <strong>da</strong>lla professoressaRosanna Moscatelli, e l’opera fo<strong>to</strong>grafica “Cantù cen<strong>to</strong>volti”. The bank’s hand-writtenstatute was signed by 19 partners 100 years ago.On 2 nd June 1907 that first nucleus of far-sightedcitizens of Cantù gave birth <strong>to</strong> – even <strong>to</strong><strong>da</strong>y – a financialinstitution which is the most solid and importantin Brianza Lariana, the Cassa Rurale ed Artigiana diCantù. The initial capital was 19 lira. To<strong>da</strong>y formersmall change has be<strong>com</strong>e 200 million euros, i.e. 21billion times the original investment, and 19 associatesare now about 6000 shareholders. The Bank’sCentenary was celebrated on 2 nd June at palasportPianella di Cucciago, the newly-elected presidentGaetano Volpe’s first public appearance. Two books were published for the centenary:“1907-2007, A Bank and its His<strong>to</strong>ry”, by Prof.Rosanna Moscatelli, and a pho<strong>to</strong>graphic work “Cantùtimes a Hundred”. At the party in Pianella there wasa poem by Orfeo Sal<strong>da</strong>rini and the screening of afilm, a tribute <strong>to</strong> the legen<strong>da</strong>ry president GiovanniZampese.
