LA CROCETTA 6La Crocetta (450 m) is a little cross located ontop of a hill above Menaggio from where canenjoy a lovely view of Menaggio and the centrallake area. The walk leads through the woodsover an easy cart-track.- starting point: Croce 393 m (2 km fromMenaggio)- Menaggio - Croce by bus: line C12- walking time: (one way) 0.40 hrs.- ascent: 100 m- some signs indicating “La Crocetta”Route: Croce is the highest in elevation (393 m) ofthe hamlets that are part of the township Menaggio.It lies at the beginning of the Val Menaggio. Fromthe bus stop continue about 15 m on the main roadthen cross it and pick up the road in the direction ofthe golf course (there is a big sign). The Menaggio –Cadenabbia golf Club, founded in 1907, is one of theoldest golf courses in Italy. At the beginning of theroad you pass an ancient washhouse and after about200 m you turn left into “Via per la Crocetta” alsocalled “Via Pigato”. After some bends the road endsand you continue on a cart track. Before arriving atthe Crocetta you encounter some trenches. They arepart of the great defense line called “Linea Cadorna”,built in 1915 along the Swiss-Italian border, fearinga possible German offence. In the province of Comoit extended from Monte Bisbino near Como to SassoCordona, Monte Galbiga and Monte Crocione andfrom there down to the Crocetta . You reach the littlechapel dedicated to the “arm of the Alpini“ and closeby is the view point of the Crocetta.LA CROCETTA 6Auf einem einfachen Pfad durch den Wald, erreicht man La Crocetta (kleines Kreuz), einem derschönsten Belvedere am Comer See. Das phantastische Panorama reicht vom Seearm von Lecco überdie Orobischen Alpen bis zum Oberen Sees im Norden.- Ausgangspunkt der Wanderung: Croce393m (2 km von Menaggio)- Menaggio - Croce mit der Buslinie C12Route: Croce ist die höchst gelegene Siedlung derGemeinde Menaggio. Ihre Struktur ist typisch für landwirtschaftlicheSiedlungen der Region Ab derBushaltestelle in Croce folgt man der Hauptstraßenoch ca. 20m weiter. Dann nimmt man die Straßelinks in Richtung Golfplatz. Der Menaggio –Cadenabbia Golf Club ist ein der ältesten Europasund würde in 1907 gegründet. Man kommt an einemschönen Waschhaus vorbei und biegt dann nach 200m links in Via per la Crocetta (auch Via Pigato) ab.Man folgt der asphaltierten Straße, die nachher ineinen steinigen Weg übergeht. In der Nähe derCrocetta stößt man auf Schützengraben. Der MonteCrocetta gehörte zu den Verteidigungslinie “LineaCadorna” das während des ersten Weltkrieges hierentstanden ist. Es verlief auf die Italienisch –Schweizer Grenze und verlief in der Provinz Como- Zeit: (hin) 0.40 h.- Steigung: 100mvon hier über Monte Crocione, Monte Tremezzo,Monte Galbiga, Sasso Gordona bis Monte Bisbino.Man erreicht das kleine Kirchlein das zum Gedenkenan die gefallenen Soldaten aller Kriege errichtet istund gleich in der Nahe “la Crocetta”.
