<strong>Azienda</strong> <strong>Ospedaliera</strong> Nazionale“SS. Antonio e Biagio e Cesare Arrigo”<strong>Working</strong> <strong>Paper</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Health</strong>nr. 19/<strong>2012</strong>conferme e più fini analisi, sono risultati suggestivi per la possibilità di individuaree selezionare, tra quelli comunemente usati in questo campo, alcuni paradigmineuropsicologici dotati della più alta validità di costrutto e di specificità predittiva.Conclusioni: le azioni neuropsicologiche sembrano poter rappresentare, oltre ché un fattorepreventivo per i pazienti con HIV, una verifica ed eventuale adeguamento deilivelli di aderenza alle terapie, utile al fine di ottimizzare le risorse.Garantiscono inoltre, grazie all’<strong>of</strong>ferta di un possibile “contenitore” dato dallospecialista, di ridurre il gravoso carico emotivo della malattia.AbstractObject: By now well-known neurological complications <strong>of</strong> HIV infection require theintervention <strong>of</strong> a neuropsychologist in the specific group so that the primary goalbecomes to define a model including psychological support services and HIV clinicalpractice.Methodology: considering the particular subcortical structure <strong>of</strong> neurocognitive brainimpairment in HIV disease, which passes trough the main neurocognitivedomains, it was necessary for us to undergo 31 individuals a wide standardizedneuropsychological examinations, with published criteria for diagnosing HAND,preceded by an interview about mood state (Beck Depression Inventory) and aself-report questionnaire about style, quality and satisfaction inside their mainrelationships.Results: the data reported here have demonstrated particular deficits in executive functions.Some rates <strong>of</strong> comparison, that will have to be confirmed and submitted to deeperstudies, may have clinical implication for detecting and selecting the most predictiveand valid neuropsychological tests.Conclusions: neuropsychological findings can examine and adapt adherence rates to optimizefinancial costs, besides representing a predictive factor for individuals livingwith HIV infection. They appear to be essential for reducing heavy emotionalexperience <strong>of</strong> disease.2
