In sociology ofreligion since its foundation the problem of the future of religion has alwaysbeen actual. However, the global processes going on in modern societyhave made the given problem more urgent. The aim of sociology ofregion, as a scientific discipline studying religion, is to anticipate the objectof its study in perspective, i.e. to prognosticate its future. The moreso now that the situation concerning religion is somewhat alarming today.It is a universally recognized fact today that mankind is in the postclassicalepoch which signifies decrease of classical values. The harbingerof this process Friedrich Nietzsche was one of the first to herald tothe mankind “the demise of God”. “The demise of God” symbolises “theruin” (“undoing”) of man. But people in pursuit of luxury, comfort andeveryday small vital things did not pay any proper attention to it then. Finally,“the God killer” humanity killed man as well. If XX century isbranded with “the demise of God”, XXI century will be labeled as thehumanity downfall.568
