Pull off the cable of the battery module from the UPS system.If additional battery modules are installed, pull off the cablesfrom the battery connection on every battery module.3. Replace the battery modules. Please read the Disposing of oldbatteries or the UPS system section for information on properdisposal.CAUTIONA small spark can occur when the battery module is connectedto the UPS system. This is normal and does not posea hazard to people. Quickly and firmly insert the cable of thebattery module into the battery plug connection of the UPSsystem.4. Stick the cable of the battery module into the battery connectionof the UPS system (see Figure 19). Up to four batteriescan be connected to the UPS system.Models up to 1500VA: Release the plug connection for thebattery module at the UPS system and connect the plug connectionwith the connection to the battery module. Press bothparts together firmly to ensure a good connection.Models with 2000 – 3000VA: Connect red with red, black withblack and green with green. Press both parts together firmly tocreate a good connection.All models To connect a second battery module, release theplug connection on the first battery module. Carefully pull theconnection to connect the second battery module. Repeat theprocedure for each additional battery module.5. To insert thecover again, make sure that the cables of the battery moduleare guided through the cable ejections. Then slide the cover tothe right until it engages in the holder on the right side of thehousing. Reattach the two screws on the right side of the frontcover. Repeat the procedure for each additional battery module.7. Make sure that the complete wiring and all plug connections ofthe UPS system as well as the battery modules lie behind thefront cover and are not accessible to the user.7.5 Testing the new batteries1. Connect the UPS system to the mains power for 48 hours tocharge up the batteries.2. Press any button to activate the menu options. Select"CONTROL" and then "START BATTERY TEST".The UPS system starts a battery test when the batteries arecompletely charged, the UPS system is in normal mode withoutactive warning messages and the bypass voltage is acceptable.During the battery test, the UPS system switches to batterymode and discharges the batteries for 25 seconds.
