M A I N T E N A N C E7.3 When to replace batteriesIf the display lights up, the alarm signal sounds and the "Batterymaintenance necessary" message lights up, the batteries mustbe replaced. Please contact your dealer or ONLINE to order newbatteries.7.4 Replacing batteriesNOTEDo not remove the batteries while the UPS system is runningin battery mode.The hot-swap function, allows the batteries to be replaced withoutshutting down the UPS system and without having to disconnect theconnected loads.If you would prefer to disconnect the UPS system from the mainsbefore replacing the batteries, please read the "Shutting down theUPS system" section.CAUTIONMaintenance work should be performed by a qualified technicianwho is experienced in working with batteries and understandsthe necessary safety precautions. Keep unauthorisedpersonnel away from batteriesBatteries can pose a risk of electric shock or injury due tohigh short-circuit currents. There is a risk of explosionRefrain from opening or tampering with the batteries. Leakingelectrolytes are hazardous to the eyes and skin. Theycan be highly toxicRISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. Do not perform modificationsto the cabling or the connections of the batteries yourself.Attempting to modify the cabling of the batteries yourself canlead to serious injuries7.4.1 Replacing the internal batteries of the tower modelCAUTIONThe internal batteries of the UPS system are heavy. Usecaution when handling the heavy batteries.The internal batteries are located behind the front cover of the UPSsystem. For better handling, the internal batteries are packaged together.1. Remove the front cover of the UPS system (see Figure 14).To remove the cover, press the upper side downwards andpull the cover forwards the same time.NOTEThe LCD display and control panel is connected to the UPSsystem by a ribbon cable.
