O P E R A T I O N4.2 Operating modesThe status of the UPS system is displayed on the control panel onthe front side.4.2.1 Normal modeIn normal mode, the display lights up continuously and the UPSsystem is supplied by the mains power supply. The UPS systemmonitors the batteries and charges these as needed. The batteriesalso provide power supply protection to the devices connected to theoutput of the UPS system.The UPS system can occasionally switch to the high-alarm modeunnoticed. This usually occurs if the mains power supply is subject tounfavourable conditions. In high-alarm mode, the UPS system deactivatesthe battery support test in order to ensure maximum batterycapacity, if necessary. The UPS system remains in high-alarm modefor 24 hours or until this mode is changed by a command of thepower strategy, before it switches to the previous mode.The optional settings for "High Efficiency" and "Power strategy minimisethe heat emission to the rack environment (see User Settings).4.2.2 Battery modeIf the UPS system is operated during a power failure, the audio warningsignal sounds every 5 seconds and the display lights up continuously.After the mains power supply returns, the UPS system switches tonormal mode and the batteries are recharged.If the battery charge state is low, the display flashes slowly andthe audio warning signal is sounded every second.
