Infine gli ottimidolci, in particolare i torroni, e i pregiati vini locali(Aglianico, Falanghina).Attività culturaliCalendario fitto di eventi durante tutto l’anno.In inverno si svolge la stagione teatrale del Teatrocomunale “Vittorio Emmanuele II”. Giugno èletterario con l’organizzazione di una importantesezione del premio Strega quando la città incontragli scrittori che concorrono al premio. A settembre,“Benevento Città Spettacolo” è tra i piùimportanti festival teatrali italiani con spettacolirappresentanti in tutti gli spazi della città.Passando al folklore, ad agosto a Foglianise c’èla festa del grano dedicata a San Rocco, caratterizzatadai carri dalle spighe intrecciate per riprodurrele facciate dei monumenti più importantidel mondo; mentre ad inizio di ottobre appuntamentoa Fragneto Monforte, con il raduno internazionaledelle mongolfiere. Alla festa in cittàdella Madonna delle Grazie (dal 1 al 3 luglio), siuniscono le feste paesane che si svolgono damarzo a settembre.Local food productsStrega Alberti liqueur is the most famous productfrom Benevento. This excellent liqueur, producedby the enchanting legendary ‘local witches’, has astrong and intense flavour. Just as interesting are thedifferent kind of cheese and salami. There are alsoexcellent sweets, in particular the “torrone” (a kind ofnougat), and fine local wines (Aglianico, Falanghina).Cultural ActivitiesThere is a calendar full of events all year round.In the winter there is a theatrical season at Comunale“Vittorio Emmanuele”. June is devoted toliterature, with the organization of an importantpart of the Strega prize when the town meets theauthors who are competing for the final prizes. InSeptember “Benevento Città Spettacolo” is one ofthe most important Italian theatrical festivals, thatare held all over the town.Moving on to folklore, in mid-August, there is theenjoyable wheat festival in honor of St. Rocco, atFoglianise, featuring braided wheat carts that reproducethe façades of the most important monumentsin the world; while at the beginning ofOctober there is the international hot-air balloonmeeting at Fragneto Monforte. In addition to theFeast of Madonna delle Grazie (from 1st to 3rd July),many fairs take place in Benevento and in the villagesaround from March to September.69
