Esso rappresenta laporta della Valfortore, nella quale sono rilevanti i centridi SAN MARCO DEI CAVOTI, noto per i prodotti tipicidolciari ed il Museo degli Orologi da Torre, collezione dimeccanismi di orologi pubblici dal XVI secolo ad oggi;S. BARTOLOMEO IN GALDO, il più grande ed importanteComune del Fortore, con la chiesa Madre del XV sec.e MONTEFALCONE VALFORTORE, dove si possono visitareil Museo della Civiltà Contadina, la più completaraccolta esistente dell’attrezzatura agricola e artigianadell’Italia meridionale, con una superficie espositiva di500 mq. e con circa 3000 pezzi esposti, ed il Santuariodel Carmine del XVII sec; BASELICE, caratteristico centroagricolo ove è ubicato il Museo Paleontologico “Baselicee il suo mare”; SAN GIORGIO LA MOLARA, conla mostra permanente dedicata al pittore Nicola Cilettie con il caratteristico mercatino mensile dei prodottiagroalimentari.Lungo la Valle del Calore si incontrano TELESE TER-ME, con le sue acque sulfuree; S. SALVATORE TELESI-NO, con i resti dell’antica Telesia e l’omonima abbazianormanna; CASTELVENERE, rinomata località vinicola,ove sono visitabili le cantine tufacee ed il Museo dellaCiviltà Contadina; FAICCHIO, con il ponte romano diQuinto Fabio Massimo ed il castello ducale del ‘400; S.LORENZELLO, con l’interessante centro storico, le bottegheceramiche e il Parco Naturalistico dei Dinosauri;CERRETO SANNITA, città di rifondazione, dal chiaro impiantourbanistico a scacchiera, già sede della fiorentescuola di ceramica del ‘700. A Cerreto Sannita è possibilevisitare il Museo delle Ceramiche, al cui internosono conservate preziose testimonianze di elevato livelloartistico. Inoltre la cittadina ospita il Museo d’ArteSacra ed il Museo della Civiltà Contadina.Altri paesi che meritano una sosta sono: CUSANOMUTRI, con la splendida località turistica di Boccadella Selva sul Matese e che custodice il Museo Civicodel Territorio, con la Sezione Civiltà Contadina e laSezione Geopaleontologica; da ricordare le importantimanifestazioni dell’Infiorata e della Sagra dei Funghi;PIETRAROJA, con il Parco Geopaleontologico, doveè stato ritrovato il fossile di un cucciolo di dinosauro‘’Scipionyx Samniticus” detto comunemente “Ciro”,ed il Paleo-Lab, in cui il visitatore compie un “viaggio”fino a 110 milioni di anni fa attraverso le vicende geologicheche hanno portato l’antica laguna di Pietrarojaa trasformarsi in una porzione dell’Appennino Matese;PIETRELCINA, birth piace of St. Pio, is targeted by agrowing flow of pilgrims and is the gateway to theFortore Valley with the significant towns of San Marcodei Covati, known for its typical confectioneryproduction and the Museum of Tower Clocks, a collectionof public clock devices from the 16th centuryto the present day, S. The17 th century Sanctuary of the Carmine; BASELICE, atypical agricultural centre with the PalaeontologicalMuseum “Baselice and its sea”; SAN GIORGIO LAMOLARA hosts a permanent exhibition dedicated topainter Nicola Ciletti and a typical food market.Along River Calore valley, you will come across TE-LESE TERME, known for its sulphurous waters and,close by, SAN SALVATORE TELESINO with the ruins ofancient Telesia and the Norman abbey bearing thesame name. CASTELVENERE, a famous wine area,there you can visit the tufaceous cellars; SOLOPACA,a town known for its wine and the Grapes Festival,held on the second Sunday of September and forthe MEG - Enogastronomic Museum; FAICCHIO, withthe Quintus Fabius Maximus’ Roman Bridge and the15th century Ducal castle; SAN LORENZELLO, with itsinteresting town centre, ceramics workshops andNational Park of Dinosaurs; CERRETO SANNITA, a refoundedtown, featuring a clear chessboard urbanlayout, home to the flourishing school of the 18thcentury ceramics. In Cerreto Sannita, visitors canenjoy the Museum of Ceramics, which keeps preciousartistic objects, the Museum of Sacred Art andthe Museum of Country Civilization.
