How did you reach theseprestigious goals?«For sure the passion for sports cars since I was a childplayed a big part, first I was a rally driver and then Iwas the manager of the racing stable, the competitionofficer and the organizer, I got close to the CarClub of Como and in 1997 I became the president.This experience allowed me to live more directly theworld of the ACI, to deal with auto; racing in Italy asa manager and then as a vice-president of the ItalianSports Car Committee. In December 2007 I was electedpresident of the ACI, so I started to get to know theinternational events of the FIA, there my sports experienceand my job as a lawyer allowed me to welcomethe invitation of Mosley before and Jean Todt after tobe part of their team».The theme of the safety on the roads is surelythe most tricky and the most actual. How do youthink you can face this problem?«The ACI has a strong commitment in this battleagainst the car accidents, first of all it is a battle of civilization,the Government and the Parliament havebeen involved, but the organization of national eventsis important too, we promoted initiatives on the territoryand collaborations with local institutions andschools».You have the merit you brought the event "FIAConference Week" in Como, your city. There were350 delegates coming from over 180 countries.What is the value of this choice from the touristand from the image point of view?«As a president of ACI and as a man from Como I wasproud I brought this event in Italy, in Como. This is themost important event of FIA in Europe this year; it representedan important economic value for hotels,restaurants and logistics».What is the value of a sports event as the F1 GP ofMonza from the tourist point of view?«The F1 GP of Monza is not just the main car racingevent in Italy, but it also attracts tourists and it bringseconomic advantages for Monza, but also for thewhole Lombardy region and for Italy, thanks to themedia supports it has».44 45
