Hotel Design - Daab

Nestled right in the heart of Old Town Maastricht, this is one the world’s
most unique properties. Upon first setting foot inside the breathtaking inner
lobby of Kruisherenhotel, it is hard not to notice the distinctive bones
of this former gothic cathedral. Taking cues from sources both ancient (the
original cathedral was built in the 15th century) and modern, it has become
a Mecca for those who worship at the altar of contemporary hotel design.
The large open floor plan, left over from the days of the church, now houses
the reception area and other hotel services. The rooms, many of which feature
views through the majestic stained glass windows, have been outfitted
with the latest technology and feature bold works by local artists. The inner
gardens, once tended by the monks who created it centuries ago, are a
respite from the bustling city beyond its walls.

beeindruckendsten Gebäude der Welt. Wenn man zum ersten mal die atemberaubende
Lobby des Kruisherenhotels betritt, fallen einem sofort die Überreste
dieser einst gotischen Kathedrale auf. Dieses Mekka für Anbeter des
zeitgenössischen Hoteldesigns vereint altertümliche (die Kathedrale wurde
im 15. Jahrhundert gebaut) und moderne Elemente perfekt. Der große und
offene Grundriss aus den goldenen Tagen der Kathedrale, beherbergt nun
die Rezeption und andere hoteleigene Dienste. Die Zimmer sind teilweise
mit majestätischem bunten Kirchenfensterglas ausgestattet, beherbergen
die neuesten Technologien und präsentieren gleichzeitig Werke von lokalen
Künstlern. Der Innengarten, der vor Jahrhunderten von den Mönchen
angelegt wurde, ist ein Ruhepol im Gegensatz zu der geschäftigen Stadt
außerhalb der Mauern.

impresionante vestíbulo del Kruisherenhotel, cuesta no reparar en la típica
nervadura de esta antigua catedral gótica. Con influencias tanto de los
estilos antiguos (la catedral original se construyó en el siglo XV) como de
los más actuales, se ha convertido en la meca para aquellos que veneran
el diseño contemporáneo de hoteles. La amplia planta libre, conservada
de los tiempos de la iglesia, alberga hoy la recepción y otros servicios del
hotel. Las habitaciones, muchas de las cuales disfrutan de vistas a través
de unas imponentes vidrieras, cuentan con lo último en tecnología y con
atrevidas obras de arte de artistas autóctonos. Los jardines interiores, otrora
cuidados por los monjes que los concibieron, son hoy un respiro frente
al bullicio de la ciudad extramuros.

les plus étonnants au monde. A peine a-t-on posé le pied à l’intérieur
de l’époustouflante salle de réception du Kruisherenhotel, qu’il est
difficile de ne pas remarquer la structure caractéristique de cette ancienne
cathédrale gothique. S’inspirant de sources à la fois anciennes (la cathédrale
originale à été construite au XVème siècle) et modernes, il est devenu
la véritable Mecque de ceux qui prient à l’autel du design hôtelier contem-
porain. Le large plan de sol ouvert, restant du temps de l’église, abrite à
présent la zone de réception et les autres services hôteliers. Les chambres,
dont beaucoup offrent une vue à travers les vitraux de l’église, ont été équipées
des dernières technologies et comprennent des œuvres audacieuses
d’artistes locaux. Les jardins intérieurs, dont s’occupaient autrefois les
moines qui les ont créés des siècles auparavant, proposent derrière leurs
murs un moment de répit, coupé de la cacophonie de la ville.

delle proprietà più belle del mondo. Appena entrati all’interno della magnifica
hall del Kruisherenhotel, è difficile non notare la struttura caratteristica
di questa antica cattedrale gotica. Traendo spunto dalle fonti antiche
(la cattedrale originaria fu costruita nel quindicesimo secolo) e moderne,
l’albergo è molto frequentato da coloro che ammirano il design moderno
degli hotel. Il progetto di un grande piano aperto, lasciato in sospeso dai
tempi della cattedrale, consente adesso di ospitare la reception e altri servizi
dell’hotel. Le camere, molte delle quali con vista da maestose vetrate
dipinte, sono dotate delle più moderne tecnologie e hanno quadri di artisti
locali appesi alle pareti. I giardini interni, un tempo curati dai monaci che li
crearono secoli fa, consentono di evadere per un attimo dalla confusione
della città, che si trova dietro le sue mura.
