PHOTO LIBRARY - Hardy Plant Society

This is the current Slide List. It identifies plants that appear on the slides presently held in
the collection. In some cases we hold more than one slide of the same plant, e.g. showing
the whole plant; a close-up view of a flower or foliage; showing the plant in association
with others, and so on.
In addition to the slides of individual plants, the Library has a number of other garden
slides; their categories are given below.
Slides continue to be donated to the Library and as this happens the list is revised.
An up-to-date list can be downloaded form the website. It can always be had by e-mail (as a
pdf file) or by sending me 7 x 2nd-class stamps to cover the cost of production and
postage.
The quality of slides in the collection varies from excellent to fair. When I have a
choice I send out the best available slide. The accuracy of the plant naming cannot be
guaranteed. Slides can be converted to digital images if required.
Packs of slides will be sent to HPS members on request. To borrow slides, a member
should send to me: -
1. A PRINTED list of the names of the plants to feature on the slides (use abbreviations,
so long as they are understandable). It is helpful to suggest substitutes or to name the
theme of the talk, in case particular slides are out on loan.
2. The DATE on which the slides are to be shown - giving at least two weeks' notice.
(Slides are sent out by 2nd-Class Post and should arrive about one week before the
date of showing.)
3. The necessary number of 2nd-class stamps to cover the cost of post and packing:-
Up to 48 slides: 7 x 2nd class stamps.
49 to 72 slides: 8 x 2nd class stamps.
73 to 84 slides: 9 x 2nd class stamps.
The maximum number of slides that may be borrowed on any one occasion is 84.
Orders and/or queries may also be sent by e-mail; in such cases the necessary stamps for
payment may be sent when the slides are returned to me. Regrettably, it is not possible for
me to reserve slides. Orders are dealt with in order of dates of showing and early ordering
does not mean that slides can be “booked”.
ALL SLIDES MUST BE RETURNED BY FIRST-CLASS POST THE DAY AFTER THEY HAVE
BEEN SHOWN. OTHER MEMBERS MAY BE WAITING TO BORROW THEM.
