Umbilical Hernia Repair Using a
Bioabsorbable Prosthesis

34 patient who underwent elective umbilical hernia repair using the
GORE Bioabsorbable Hernia Plug. The disc portion of the plug was
placed through the fascial defect into the pre-peritoneal space and
sutured in place.
The low number of complications and lack of recurrence
suggests that the bioabsorbable plug is a potential viable
method of reparing umbilical hernias.
