Una giornata per farsi conoscere:
15 settembre 2007
Una giornata per farsi conoscere
meglio: questo era l’obiettivo di Ansaldo
Energia che ha aperto le porte ai
dipendenti e famigliari il 15 settembre
scorso.
Obiettivo pienamente raggiunto: oltre
tremila persone hanno varcato le
soglie dello stabilimento di Genova
Campi per visitare le officine e osservare
da vicino turbine a gas e a vapore,
generatori, macchine da dove viene
prodotta la singola paletta a dove vengono
assiemati i dischi che costituiscono
il rotore della turbina.
Alcuni monitor illustravano fasi di lavorazione,
fornendo dati e spiegazioni,
pannelli all’inizio del percorso offrivano
un’idea complessiva di Ansaldo Energia
e delle società controllate italiane
ed estere.
Hanno trovato spazio e rilevanza anche
la sicurezza sul lavoro, il mondo del
volontariato e il dopolavoro Ansaldo,
che compie 80 anni di attività proprio
quest’anno.
L’Assessore
Ricordando i momenti critici brillantemente
quel futuro simboleggiato dai
bimbi presenti che sono il segnale
della fiducia nel domani e della tranquillità
e sicurezza del lavoro.
Piergiorgio Alberti, Consigliere di Amministrazione
di Finmeccanica, ha confermato
la Sua personale stima, affiancata
alle testimonianze di attenzione ed
al particolare apprezzamento della
capogruppo verso l’azienda genovese:
“una squadra coesa, ragione di giusto
orgoglio, per un ulteriore prospettiva di
sviluppo condiviso”.
Monsignor Molinari, direttore dei Cappellani
del Lavoro, ha ringraziato i presenti
e messo in evidenza il ruolo dell’Azienda
nell’economia della città e il
forte legame costruttivo tra lavoratori e
famigliari.
Il Direttore Generale Claudio Nucci ha
calorosamente ringraziato i presenti che
sono la testimonianza della vicinanza e
condivisione del mondo del lavoro.
Il coro Daneo, gli Attack-a-Boogie, i
comici Basso, Klobas, Melazzi e Chiodaroli
di Zelig ed esibizioni di tango,
ballo liscio e caraibico hanno allietato
la serata.
Trofeo Open Day 2007
Centro Polisportivo San Biagio.
Power Generation
A day to get to know each other
better: 15 September 2007
news
When Ansaldo Energia opened its
doors to employees and their families
last September 15, the aim was to
give everyone an opportunity to get to
know each other better.
And the company can rest assured
that it achieved this objective, with
more than three thousand people visiting
the Genoa Campi factory to see
its workshops and get a closer look at
the turbines and generators produced,
at the machinery used to manufacture
individual blades and where the disks
that make up the turbine rotor are
assembled.
A series of monitors played videos
Open Day trophy 2007
As part of the company's internal communication activities, a football tournament
was recently organised among teams put together by the employees of
Ansaldo Energia and its subsidiaries. A remarkable total of twelve teams took
part in the initial knock-out stage, followed by a two-round final, both disputed
in july. Six teams made it through the first phase and battled it out in the two
mini-rounds of the second stage, which was a hard fought contest but played
with exemplary sportsmanship and spirit of initiative. At the Massimo Patti
sports centre, the "Avog", "Cold Blades", “Prog/Atri" and "Hot Blades" teams
revealed their superiority, going on to fight it out on september 5 at the San
Biagio sports centre. The play-off for third place was won 4-3 by "Avog" against
"Cold Blades". The tournament winner "Prog/Atri" beat "Hot Blades" 5-0.
The top goal scorer was Luca Di Gennaro from the winning team.
The prize-giving ceremony took place on the evening of september 15.
explaining the various stages in the
manufacturing process, and a set of
panels at the start of the tour itinerary
gave visitors an overall picture of
Ansaldo Energia and its Italian and
international subsidiaries.
Space was also devoted to safety at
work, voluntary work and the Ansaldo
working-men's club, which this year
celebrates its 80th anniversary.
The kids area in particular was a great
success, giving the whole family a
chance to enjoy their day out.
Managing Director Giuseppe Zampini
praised the professional approach of
everyone who works for the company,
inviting representatives (board, management
and trade unions) of all 2,700
employees to join him on the platform,
saying that it was an opportunity for
them all to celebrate with their families.
The Managing Director confirmed the
strong ties the company has with the
local area, describing the business as
a set of complex realities that continues
to grow and deliver ROS (Return
On Sales) in line with competition in
the sector.
"2007 is a record breaking year in
3
terms of revenues, with an order backlog
that will keep the company busy
until 2009. And we have achieved this
by believing in the heritage of professional
skills held by Ansaldo Energia
and the close teamwork that has made
the company strong and stable.
This company's resources can look
forward to a great future if we believe
in our own strength, but most importantly
if we put our hearts into our
work, because we can only be successful
if we love what we are doing.
"There were also some stirring words
from Mario Margini, in his dual role as
Ansaldo Energia Board Director and
Genoa Municipal Councillor.
In presenting the best wishes of the
Municipal Council, Margini confirmed
that Ansaldo Energia is not only an
important force in the city and for its
population, but also a source of
enrichment for the area as a whole.
Remembering some of the critical
moments the company has
successfully negotiated in the past, he
emphasised that this was a turning
point for Ansaldo Energia as it looks to
the future, a future symbolised by the
children attending the open day, who
represent confidence in the future and
job security.
Piergiorgio Alberti, Finmeccanica
Board Director, expressed his personal
esteem and dwelt on the special
relationship between the holding
company and the Genoa-based
business: "a close knit team which
represents a source of pride and the
driver of new prospects of shared
development".
Monsignor Molinari, the director of
Chaplains at Work in the Archdiocese
of Genoa, thanked those present and
drew attention to the importance of the
role played by the company in the city's
economy and its strong ties with
families in the area.
General Manager Claudio Nucci warmly
thanked everyone for coming and
demonstrating their support for the
company.
The evening was livened up by
performances by the Daneo choir,
Attack-a-Boogie, comedians Basso,
Klobas, Melazzi and Chiodaroli from
Zelig, and exhibitions of tango,
ballroom and Caribbean dancing.
Premio Innovazione 2007
Power Generation
news
nell’anno in corso e qualche idea
speciale.
L’avvio della cerimonia è stato di
Roberto Garosi che, in qualità di
responsabile delle attività afferenti
alla Proprietà intellettuale, ha illustrato
gli aggiornamenti relativi ai brevetti
depositati in termini numerici e ha sottolineato
l’importanza che ha per
un’azienda come Ansaldo Energia, fortemente
orientata allo sviluppo dei
suoi prodotti, procedere con un trend
di brevetti depositati che ormai si
assesta sopra le 20 unità all’anno.
I brevetti sono stati tutti valutati da
una Commissione interna all’azienda,
presieduta dal Preside della Facoltà di
Ingegneria di Genova, Prof. Gianni Vernazza,
i cui membri rappresentano le
principali funzioni aziendali interessate
ovvero Enrico Rebora, responsabile
Production & Technologies, Gilberto
Filippi, responsabile Qualità Management,
Carlo Luzzatto responsabile Service,
Roberto Garosi, responsabile
Patents, Licences, Intellectual Property,
Antonella Masella, I. P. Manager,
Irma Belardi responsabile Sviluppo
Organizzativo, Alessandro Alemberti,
di tecnologie Nucleari Termoidraulica e
Simulazione in Ansaldo Nucleare e
Franco Rosatelli responsabile Sviluppo
tecnologico e Ingegneria di Ansaldo
Ricerche.
Durante la cerimonia sono state consegnata
dal Direttore Generale Claudio
Nucci le targhe ricordo di partecipazione
al premio, con il supporto di
M. Paola Cavanna della Scuola di Formazione.
I commenti di Enrico Rebora hanno
accompagnato i vari soggetti dei brevetti
e, per alcune idee selezionate
dalla Commissione e presentate
anche al Premio Innovazione Finmeccanica,
è stato chiesto ai team leader
di illustrare con un breve intervento il
significato dell’idea depositata, rendendo
così ancora più coinvolgente
l’iniziativa.
L’Amministratore delegato Giuseppe
Zampini ha chiuso la cerimonia, compiacendosi
del fervore di idee che
l’azienda continua a sviluppare e ha ricordato
la necessità di sviluppare idee
che sempre più abbiano una ricaduta
sulle attività aziendali focalizzando
l’attenzione al posizionamento competititivo
sul mercato, riuscendo ad
anticipare i competitors.
Innovation Award 2007
The Ansaldo Energia Innovation Award
ceremony, now a regular event, was
held this year on October 19 in the
Auditorium at company headquarters.
As always prizes were awarded to
patents registered during the current
year, as well as to a few unpatented
ideas, demonstrating the company's
growing ability to develop new patentable
concepts. It is also the first year the
award was extended to the company's
new Italian and international subsidiaries,
which submitted some interesting
patents and ideas, particularly in the
case of Ansaldo Ricerche and the
Dutch TTS, which received a special
mention.
The award ceremony was opened by
Intellectual Property manager Roberto
Garosi, who provided an update on the
number of patents deposited, underlining
the importance for a company like
Ansaldo Energia, which has such a
strong focus on product development,
of continuing the trend of new patents
registered, which has now stabilised at
more than 20 each year.
The patents were all assessed by an
internal Commission, chaired by the
President of the Genoa University Engineering
Faculty Prof. Gianni Vernazza,
with representatives of all the main corporate
functions involved: Production &
Technologies manager Enrico Rebora,
Quality Management manager Gilberto
Filippi, Service Unit manager Carlo Luzzatto,
Patents, Licences, Intellectual
Property and Diversified Business
manager Roberto Garosi, I. P. Manager
Antonella Masella, Organisation development
manager Irma Belardi, Ansaldo
Nucleare Nuclear, Thermohydraulic and
Simulation technology manager Alessandro
Alemberti, and Ansaldo Ricerche
Technological Development and
Engineering manager Franco Rosatelli.
During the ceremony, the winners were
presented with their awards by General
Manager Claudio Nucci, assisted by
Training School representative Paola
Cavanna.
Enrico Rebora briefly described the
subjects of the various patents and, for
several ideas selected by the Commission
for submission to the Finmeccanica
Innovation Award, the team leaders
were asked to explain the importance
of their projects in greater detail.
Managing Director Giuseppe Zampini
closed the ceremony, expressing his
satisfaction at the enthusiasm with
which the company continues to incubate
new ideas and reminding the
audience and teams present of the
need to develop ideas that are good for
business, and which therefore aim to
gain a competitive edge over the competition.
Continuano
i successi
in Algeria
fornitura della centrale elettrica di
M’Sila, equipaggiata con due turbine a
gas V94.3A in ciclo aperto, con una
potenza totale di 500 MW, e la fornitura
del raddoppio della centrale di Larbaa,
che prevede l’installazione di altre due
turbine a gas V94.2 in ciclo aperto,
aggiungendo ulteriori 300 MW alla
potenza prevista nel contratto base, e
portando quindi il totale della potenza
installata nella centrale a 600 MW.
Entrambi i contratti prevedono importanti
forniture di service per attività di
manutenzione.
Con queste due nuove acquisizioni
Ansaldo Energia porta a 3250 MW la
potenza complessiva delle centrali
elettriche fornite alla Sonelgaz,
Societè Algerienne de l’Electricite et
du Gaz, Ente energetico statale Algerino.
A fine 2009 Ansaldo Energia coprirà
complessivamente, con le centrali fornite
a Sonelgaz, circa un terzo dei consumi
di elettricità del Paese, contribuendo
in modo significativo allo sviluppo
dei grandi progetti infrastrutturali
e industriali programmati nel Paese,
quali ferrovie, autostrade e nuovi
impianti nel settore degli idrocarburi.
Yet another
success story
in Algeria
Following hard on the heels of the
recent acquisition of two contracts
for the Larbaa and Batna power stations,
Ansaldo Energia has been
awarded two more contracts worth a
total of EUR 510 million, taking the
total value of new orders won in Algeria
in 2007 to EUR 850 million.
The two new orders are for the M'Sila
power station, which will be fitted
with two V94.3A open cycle gas turbines
rated a total 500 MW, and to
double the capacity of the Larbaa
power station, with the installation of
two more V94.2 gas turbines in an
open cycle arrangement, adding 300
MW to the output delivered by the
base contract and increasing the
installed power of the station to 600
MW.
Both contracts include major supplies
of maintenance services.
With these two new orders, the total
output of Ansaldo Energia power stations
Algeriàs electricity requirement,
making a significant contribution to
the development of the country's key
infrastructure and industrial programmes,
including railways, motorways
and new plants in the petrochemicals
sector.
Ansaldo Energia firma in Russia
ordini per oltre
100 milioni di euro
news
Ansaldo Energia ha firmato due importanti
contratti in Russia con Power
Machines, il principale produttore
russo di sistemi per la generazione di
energia elettrica. I due contratti hanno
un valore complessivo di oltre 100
milioni di euro.
I due contratti prevedono la fornitura di
cinque turbine a gas V64.3A con relativi
generatori e sistemi ausiliari per le
centrali a ciclo combinato di Tyumen,
centro della Siberia Occidentale, e di
Pervomaiskaya, nell’area di San Pietroburgo.
Alla fornitura delle macchine è associata
anche quella delle principali parti
di ricambio. Questi risultati, che seguono
i recenti successi internazionali ottenuti
da Ansaldo Energia, confermano la
società genovese come uno dei maggiori
player mondiali e in grado di raggiungere
una posizione di leadership in
uno dei mercati principali al mondo.
Infatti, la necessità di ammodernamento
e di sostituzione del parco centrali
elettriche esistente combinata con la
forte ripresa della domanda di energia
elettrica rende la Russia un paese con
prospettive estremamente interessanti
per le aziende del settore elettrico.
Ansaldo Energia signs orders
in Russia worth more than
Eur 100 million
Ansaldo Energia has signed two major
contracts in Russia with Power Machines,
the country's leading producer of
electricity generating systems, worth
a total of more than eur 100 million.
The two contracts cover the supply of
five V64.3A gas turbines, plus generators
and auxiliaries, for the combined
cycle plants at Tyumen in eastern
Siberia and Pervomaiskaya near St.
Petersburg. The supply of machinery
also includes the main spare parts for
the equipment.
These results, which follow on from
other recent successes achieved by
Ansaldo Energia, confirm that the
Genoa based company is a top international
player, able to win a position
of leadership in one of the world's biggest
markets. In fact, the need to
modernise and replace the fleet of
existing power stations, combined
with strong recovery in demand for
electricity, mean that Russia offers
some extremely interesting prospects
for companies working in the power
generation sector.
Contratto con la società russa
Stroytransgaz, della Gazprom
Il 25 ottobre Ansaldo Energia ha firmato
un altro importante contratto in Russia
per un valore di oltre 45 milioni di
Euro. Il cliente è la società Stroytransgaz,
EPC Contractor controllato dal
gruppo Gazprom.
Il contratto prevede la fornitura di due
turbine a gas V64.3A con relativi generatori
e sistemi ausiliari per la centrale
a ciclo combinato Yugo-Zapadnaya TEZ,
nella zona sud ovest di San Pietroburgo.
Le due V64.3A, alimentate a dual fuel,
saranno installate nella prima unità
CCGT da 200 MW, a cui seguirà la
seconda fase comprendente una seconda
unità gemella della prima ed una
terza unità costituita da una turbina gas
i cui gas combusti alimenteranno uno
scambiatore per teleriscaldamento.
Alla fornitura delle macchine è associata
anche quella delle principali parti di
ricambio.
indicatori economici tutti positivi.
La Russia ha registrato infatti una crescita
del 6,9% nel 2006, ed in questo
contesto il governo ha lanciato un piano
di privatizzazione dell'energia elettrica
ed un vasto programma di recupero ed
aumento della capacita produttiva,
attualmente inadeguato in quanto il
parco dell'installato, di oltre 215.000
MW, è largamente inutilizzabile a causa
dell'inefficienza e dell'obsolescenza
delle centrali. Tale programma prevede
la costruzione di impianti per oltre
10.000 MW all'anno nel prossimo
decennio.
Contract in Russia with
Stroytransgaz controlled
by Gazprom Group
On October 25 Ansaldo Energia signed
another important contract in Russia
worth more than Euro 45 million, with
Stroytransgaz, the EPC Contractor controlled
by Gazprom group.
The contract covers the supply of two
V64.3A gas turbines, with the relative
generators and auxiliary systems for
the Yugo-Zapadnaya TEZ combined
cycle power station to the south west
of St. Petersburg.
The two dual fuel V64.3As will be
installed in the first 200 MW CCGT
unit. This will be followed by a second
project stage, involving a second unit
identical to the first, and a third unit
also comprising a gas turbine, from
which the exhaust gases will be used
to feed a heat exchanger to provide
district heating.
The supply of the machinery also includes
the main spare parts. The owner
of the power station has also undertaken
to award Ansaldo Energia the
order for the maintenance of the equipment
under the terms of a Long Term
Service Agreement.
This success, coming a matter of
weeks after the acquisition of the Pervomaiskaya
and Tyumen contracts,
confirms that Ansaldo Energia is regarded
as one of the most reliable and
effective international operators, with
the capabilities to achieve a dominant
position in Russia.
This success is perfectly in line with
Finmeccanica strategy of penetrating
one of the most promising markets in
the world, which is reporting positive
economic indicators on all fronts.
Russia reported growth of 6.9% in
2006, and in this framework the
government launched an energy privatisation
plan and a huge programme to
recover and increase production capacity,
which is at the present time inadequate,
because much of the installed
fleet, totalling more than 215,000
MW, cannot be used because of the
inefficiency and obsolescence of the
power stations. The programme envisages
the construction of generation
plant rated in excess of 10,000 MW
annually over the next decade.
Power Generation
Ordine per il termoutilizzatore
di ASM Brescia
news
A Luglio 2007 è stato firmato con la
società ASM di Brescia il contratto per
la fornitura e installazione di una nuova
soluzione per il turbogruppo del termoutilizzatore
di Brescia.
L’ordine è particolarmente significativo
per Ansaldo Energia, in quanto già fornitore
nel 1997 dell’intero impianto termoutilizzatore
“chiavi in mano” per la
produzione di energia elettrica e di
calore per la rete di teleriscaldamento,
attraverso la combustione di rifiuti solidi
urbani e assimilabili.
Il contratto prevede una nuova turbina a
vapore che sarà in grado di sviluppare
una potenza sino a 117 MW, con un
significativo upgrade rispetto all’attuale
turbina da 85 MW, sempre di costruzione
Ansaldo Energia.
Anche per la sostituzione dell’esistente
alternatore, di fornitura ABB, il cliente
ha scelto Ansaldo, a testimonianza
della grande fiducia che ha posto nella
nostra azienda.
Oltre all’apprezzata affidabilità della
precedente turbina fornita da Ansaldo,
sono stati elementi determinanti per
l’aggiudicazione dell’ordine le soluzioni
tecniche proposte, gli impatti minimi
sull’intero impianto, i ridotti tempi di
fornitura e di installazione: questi ultimi
sono davvero ristretti, di poco superiori
ai due mesi.
Questo nuovo successo rafforza i già
ottimi e duraturi rapporti con il Cliente
e sancisce la visibilità di Ansaldo Energia
come fornitore non soltanto di turbine
a vapore nuove, ma anche di soluzioni
di alto contenuto tecnologico per
il recupero e l’ammodernamento di
macchine e impianti preesistenti e
obsoleti.
Order for Brescia ASM
waste-to-energy plant
In July 2007 the contract was signed with ASM,
Brescia, to design and install a new turbine set
solution for the Brescia waste-to-energy plant.
The order has a special meaning for Ansaldo
Energia, which supplied the entire plant in 1997,
on a turnkey basis, to produce electricity and heat
for the district heating system by burning urban
solid waste and similar.
The solution involves a new steam turbine with a
rated output of 117 MW, representing a significant
upgrade of the actual 85 MW unit, also built
by Ansaldo Energia.
The customer also selected Ansaldo to replace
the existing alternator, supplied by ABB, demonstrating
its confidence in our company's abilities.
In addition to the excellent reliability of the previous
turbine supplied by Ansaldo, the other decisive
factors in the contract win were the technical
solutions proposed, the minimal impact of the
work on the plant as a whole, and the extremely
tight supply and installation timeline (just over
two months).
This new success reinforces excellent, long-standing
relations with the customer, as well as promoting
Ansaldo Energia as not just a supplier of
new steam turbines, but also of advanced technology
solutions to re-use and modernise existing,
obsolete machinery.
Nuova camera
di combustione
per il Cile
Sabato 13 Ottobre è partito dall’aeroporto
Cristoforo Colombo di
Genova un trasporto eccezionale verso
il Cile: trattasi della nuova camera di
combustione per la turbina V94.2
installata nel ciclo combinato di Mejillones,
da 230 MW.
Come già altre volte in passato, Ansaldo
New Combustion
Chamber for Chile
On Saturday October 13 an exceptional
load set off from Cristoforo
Colombo airport in Genoa for Chile:
the new combustion chamber for the
V94.2 turbine installed in the Mejillones
combined cycle plant (230 MW).
As on several occasions in the past,
Ansaldo Energia resorted to the massive
cargo carrying capacity (in terms
of both volume and weight) of an Antonov
124 aircraft to ship several very
large machine parts to northern Chile
in record time.
The customer Edelnor decided pay
for the exceptional shipment rather
than wait about 20/25 for the parts
to arrive by sea, during which time the
power station would have been out of
service.
In order to provide a real time response
to the needs of the customer,
Ansaldo embarked on a race against
time involving all company departments
and the Field Service in particular,
which prepared the site and
plant for the new components when
they arrived.
Ansaldo engineers also accompanied
the load to supervise
all operations
before, during and
immediately after
transport.
This confirms the
extent of the collaboration
and mutual
trust established
over many years
working together by
Ansaldo Energia
and customer Edelnor.
Il Cliente Edelnor ha valutato conveniente
accollarsi l’onere di tale trasporto
eccezionale, valutando l’aspetto positivo
di minor inattività della centrale di
circa 20/25 giorni rispetto al trasporto
effettuato via mare.
smontaggi e predisposizioni, a ricevere
Edelnor.
news
Nel consolidare la “cultura della
sicurezza”, condivisa e praticata a
tutti i livelli di responsabilità, continuano
le iniziative volte all’informazione
ai dipendenti, nella convinzione
che un lavoratore ben informato
sui contenuti della propria attività
possa più facilmente prevenire i
rischi derivati.
L’informazione avviene al momento
dell’assunzione, quando vengono illustrati
i rischi e descritte le procedure
e i dispositivi di sicurezza nonché i
mezzi di protezione individuali e vengono
forniti, come utile guida e promemoria,
a ciascun nuovo assunto
alcuni agili manuali che descrivono i
rischi dell’attività nonché i dispositivi
di sicurezza da usare; gli stessi
manuali sono stati distribuiti anche a
tutti i lavoratori operanti in officina.
Riguardo alla gestione delle emergenze,
una specifica pagina con le
indicazioni sui comportamenti da
tenere è presente sul portale “intranet”
aziendale, strumento quest’ultimo,
il cui utilizzo con finalità formative
in materia di sicurezza si prevede
di ampliare nel prossimo futuro.
Particolare attenzione viene dedicata
ai corsi di formazione per i capi
dei reparti di officina, ai capi cantiere
e ai preposti service e montaggi;
la finalità di accrescere la consapevolezza
delle loro responsabilità in
materia di sicurezza e migliorarne
l’integrazione con la struttura aziendale
preposta, in un’ottica che considera
gli obblighi posti dalla legge
non come una limitazione all’operatività
aziendale, ma un’occasione di
miglioramento tecnico ed organizzativo.
In questa prospettiva vengono vissuti
anche i rapporti con i Rappresentanti
dei lavoratori per la sicurezza,
consultati periodicamente e in occasione
di specifici interventi od eventi
che influiscono sulla sicurezza e
l’ambiente di lavoro.
Working with
awareness
To consolidate the "safety culture"
shared and practised at all levels of
responsibility, Ansaldo Energia continues
to provide its employees with
information, because the company is
convinced that workers who are informed
about and fully aware of the risks
involved can more easily prevent accidents
happening.
This information is first offered on
recruitment, when the risks, procedures,
safety mechanisms and means of
personal protection available are
described, and when each new
employee is given a series of handbooks
describing the risks involved
and the safety equipment to use; the
same handbooks have also been
distributed to all workshop workers.
On the subject of emergency procedures,
a page with instructions and advice
on what to do in the event of an
emergency is published on the corporate
intranet, a resource which will be
used increasingly frequently for training
purposes in the near future.
Special attention is addressed to training
courses for the heads of workshop
departments, site foremen and
erection service resources, with the
aim of increasing their awareness
about safety responsibilities and to
improve integration with the corporate
structure set up for this purpose. One
of the key aspects of policy is that
legal obligations are not regarded as
a limitation to company operations,
but as an opportunity for technical
and organisational improvement.
This is also how relations with
workers' safety representatives are
regarded, with periodic consultation
and in connection with specific initiatives
or events which influence safety
and the working environment.
di service, volto a supportare
l’operatore, la società rumena Nuclearelectrica,
nell’esercizio efficace e sicuro
dell’impianto. Entrambe le unità
sono del tipo CANDU 6, reattore pressurizzato,
moderato e refrigerato con
acqua pesante, sviluppato in Canada e
utilizzato anche in altri Paesi, quali
Corea del Sud, Cina, Argentina. La
seconda unità adotta le più recenti
soluzioni tecniche delle centrali Candu,
disponibili sul mercato.
In conformità col programma energetico
romeno, sono in corso trattative
con potenziali investitori, tra i quali
grandi utilities e gruppi industriali, per
costituire una Project Company finalizzata
alla costruzione e messa in servizio
delle unità 3 e 4 dello stesso
impianto.
“La vera forza di Ansaldo Nucleare –
come dichiarato dall’AD Adinolfi – è
quella di replicare un progetto realizzato
già due volte con successo”.
Ansaldo Nucleare officially opens
unit two at the Cernavoda power
station in Romania
news
October 5 saw the official opening of
unit two at the Cernavoda nuclear
power station, built by a joint venture
between atomic energy of Canada and
Ansaldo Nucleare, a subsidiary of
Ansaldo Energia) which has been
working with success in Romania for
thirty years now. The new unit is rated
700 MW, which when taken together
with the output of the first unit, means
that about 20% of the country's electricity
is now generated using nuclear
power.
The country's top representatives
attended the ceremony, with prime
minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu and
the minister of the economy and trade
Varujan Vosganian, as did the top
management of Ansaldo Nucleare,
represented by chairman Francesco
Mazzuca and managing director Roberto
Adinolfi. The italian government was
represented by the ambassador to
Romania Daniele Mancini, who during
his speech expressed his thanks and
appreciation for the long-standing commitment
of Ansaldo's workforce to this
important project for the economy of
the country as a whole.
Representing the Liguria regional administration
was the president's diplomatic
advisor, ambassador Federico Di
Roberto.
The joint venture between Ansaldo
Nucleare and Atomic Energy of Canada
limited acted as design authority for
the bop balance of plant) and NSP
Nuclear System Portion) respectively,
as well as handling project management,
with an integrated team involving
the on-site presence of about 100
Ansaldo Nuclear specialists for more
than four years.
Ansaldo Nucleare also designed, built
and commissioned the first unit at the
Cernavoda nuclear power station,
which was completed in 1996. Since
then it has provided maintenance and
supervision services under the terms
of a specific service contract, designed
to provide the operator, romanian company
Nuclearelectrica, with assistance
in running the plant efficiently and
safely. Both units are based on Candu
6 pressurised reactors moderated and
cooled using heavy water) developed in
Canada and used in other countries,
including South Korea, China and
Argentina. Unit two exploits the latest
Candu technical solutions available on
the market.
In line with the Romanian energy programme,
negotiations are in progress
with potential investors, including big
utilities and industrial groups, to set up
a project company to build and commission
units 3 and 4 at the same
site. "Ansaldo Nucleare has a big head
start here - said the managing director
Adinolfi - because it would be replicating
a project which it has already completed
twice with great success".
SOGIN pronta al mercato
del decommissioning
L’A.D. M. ROMANO
ha illustrato alla stampa
il piano industriale 2007-11
approvato dal CDA
ad inizio agosto
Mentre il dibattito sul nucleare
si è riacceso, e anche all’estero
l’Italia mostra l’interesse alla
ricerca sul nucleare di IV generazione,
l’ad sottolinea che
l’attività verso cui è volta principalmente
Sogin, il decommissioning
è solo una fase del ciclo
nucleare, un’attività industriale
che richiede profonde conoscenze
tecnologiche, ma che non
riguarda solo il nostro Paese –
non è quindi “un’anomalia tutta
italiana” ma è di interesse per
tutti quei Paesi che hanno reattori
nucleari: e al mondo oggi in
esercizio ammontano a ben
435, di cui 165 in Europa. Que-
sti numeri spiegano le elevate
dimensioni del potenziale mercato
mondiale del decommissioning:
circa 300 reattori con
avvio del decommissioning
entro il 2020, oltre 70 dei quali
nel vecchio Continente. E Sogin
punta proprio a presentarsi con
competenze ed esperienze sul
mercato internazionale, ed in
particolare quello dell’Europa
centro orientale, dichiarando la
volontà di scendere in campo
insieme ad altri partner quali
Ansaldo e Camozzi (“perché da
soli non ci sono le forze”) piuttosto
che l’americana EnergySolutions
con cui ha recentemente
sottoscritto un accordo.
E la storia di successo di
EnergySolutions, nata nel 2006
e affermata in meno di due
anni, rappresenta un modello,
una best practice a cui mirare.
Romano precisa: “La sua storia
potrebbe essere la nostra” in
un nuovo percorso industriale.
E per realizzare l’ambizioso
piano che prevede al 2011 il
raggiungimento di poco meno
del 30% dell’attività di decommissioning,
traguardo trainato
da una forte accelerazione per il
sito di Bosco Marengo, per quello
di Trino e di Caorso, Sogin
investe anche in comunicazione,
formazione e cultura della
sicurezza. Non solo “prati
verdi”, ma progetti di valorizzazione
dei siti su cui sorgevano
le centrali: per Caorso, Trino,
Latina, Garigliano e Bosco Marengo
si prevede la realizzazione
di impianti da fonti rinnovabili
(fotovoltaico) che consentano
una produzione complessiva di
5 MW. Romano, non si lascia
trainare sul dibattito sul nucleare.
La strada aperta verso il
nucleare di IV generazione e
“corretta e utile” per il Paese
perché consente di mantenere
una porta aperta qualora ci fossero
le condizioni e la volontà di
riaprire il discorso interrotto con
il referendum del 1987.
Sogin ready for
decommissioning market
Managing Director Romano
describes the industrial plan
2007-11, approved by the
board early in august
Now that the nuclear debate
has been re-opened in earnest,
and Italy is showing interest in
IV generation nuclear research
on international markets too,
the Managing Director of Sogin
emphasised that the
decommissioning work
performed by the company is
just another stage in the
nuclear cycle, an industrial
activity that requires in-depth
technological expertise, but
which affects all countries with
nuclear reactors and is not an
"exclusively Italian anomaly".
At the present time there are a
full 435 nuclear plants in
service throughout the world,
165 of them in Europe. These
figures give some idea of just
how big the potential world
market is, with about 300
reactors expected to begin
decommissioning by 2020,
more than 70 of which in
Europe. And Sogin aims to
present itself as a model of
competence and experience on
international markets, and on
central and eastern European
markets in particular, declaring
that it intends to form
business alliances with other
partners such as Ansaldo and
Camozzi "because alone we
aren't strong enough"), or with
the US-based EnergySolutions
with which it has recently
signed an agreement.
And the success story
represented by
EnergySolutions, which was
established in 2006 and is
now, after only two years, a
leading player in the sector,
represents a model to aim at.
Romano clarified: "This is a
success story we could
replicate".
And to implement the
ambitious plan that would
increase decommissioning
business to 30% of the total
by 2011, driven by strong
acceleration at the Bosco
Marengo, Trino and Caorso
sites, Sogin also invests in
safety communication, training
and culture.
So not just greenfield
initiatives, but also projects to
enhance the value of existing
sites at Caorso, Trino, Latina,
Garigliano and Bosco Marengo,
where renewable source
photovoltaic) plants generating
a total of 5 MW are planned.
Romano won't be drawn on the
nuclear debate. The decision
to pursue research into IV
generation nuclear power is
the right one for Italy, because
it keeps a foot in the door
should the conditions be right
and there is the political will to
re-open the debate suspended
by the referendum of 1987.
