IL CINEMA GIAPPONESE OGGI
Il regista Suwa Nobuhiro ha
riunito il cast e la troupe nella
sua città natale, Hiroshima, per
realizzare un remake del classico
di Alain Resnais Hiroshima,
Mon Amour. L’attrice francese
Béatrice Dalle, il direttore della
fotografia Caroline Champetier
e lo scrittore Kou Machida, un
simbolo della letteratura giapponese
contemporanea, si uniscono
a Suwa nell’impegnativa
impresa di reinterpretare emozioni
complesse legate a un
particolare tempo e luogo nel
passato.
“In questo film, come nei
miei due precedenti, non c’è
sceneggiatura. Il mio film
precedente, M/Other, era
basato su una sinossi molto
breve. La sceneggiatura si
sviluppava attraverso numerose
discussioni con gli attori
prima e durante le riprese. Il
dialogo è sempre improvvisato
e la storia cambia continuamente
durante le riprese.
Anche dopo le riprese, mi
sembra che le immagini non hanno senso in se stesse.
Solo durante il processo di montaggio scopro la struttura
del film. Si potrebbe dire che la sceneggiatura non è mai
realmente finita che al termine del processo. Sono stato
ancor più rigoroso con me stesso nel fare H-Story. Niente
che assomigliasse a una sinossi è stato steso, a parte il
fatto che sapevo la storia avrebbe riguardato un uomo e
una donna che si incontrano e separano a Hiroshima,

BIOGRAFIA
Suwa Nobuhiro (Hiroshima, 1961) iniziò la sua esperienza
cinematografica come assistente di Nagasaki Shunichi,
Yamamoto Masashi e Ishii Sogo. Nel 1990 ha iniziato a
realizzare documentari televisivi.

“With this film, as with my two
earlier works, there is no scenario.
My last film, M/Other
is based on a very short synopsis.
The scenario was developed
through numerous discussions
with the actors before and during
the shoot. Dialogue is
always improvised; and the
story changes continually during
the shoot. Even after the
shoot, I find that images themselves
have no sense. It is only
during the editing process that I
can discover the structure of the
film. One might say the scenario is never really written at all
until the end of the process. I was even stricter with myself in
making H-Story. Nothing in the way of a synopsis was drafted;
except that I knew the story would concern a man and a
woman who come together and separate in Hiroshima today.”

BIOGRAPHY
Suwa Nobuhiro (Hiroshima, 1961) started his film career as
assistent director with Nagasaki Shunichi, Yamamoto Masashi
and Ishii Sogo. In 1990 he started making television documentaries.
