Una docu-fiction sperimentale,
romanzata, sullo scrittore giapponese
Nakagami Kenji, morto
giovane nel 1992. Nakagami è
stato il cronista della città marina
di Shingu. Molte storie raccontate
da Nakagami sono
ambientate in un particolare
vicolo di Shingu. Un vicolo
ormai scomparso, ma che continua
a vivere nella narrativa di
Nakagami. E anche sulla celluloide,
perché lo scrittore ha filmato
il vicolo prima che venisse
demolito. Nel film di
Aoyama Shinji, il cineasta
Izuchi Kisshu va alla ricerca di
ciò che resta del vicolo di
Nakagami. Tuttavia l’atmosfera
BIOGRAFIA
Aoyama Shinji (Kyushu, 1965) fece i suoi primi film in 8mm
mentre era studente all’università di Rikyo, dove fu profondamente
influenzato dai corsi del critico cinematografico
Hasumi Shigehiko. Nell’industria cinematografica iniziò come
assistente scenografo, per poi diventare assistente alla regia
con, tra gli altri, Kurosawa Kiyoshi, Fridrik Thor Fridriksson,
Daniel Schmid e Rijiu Go. Collabora come critico a varie riviste
(“Le Cahiers du Cinéma Japon”, “Esquire Japan”).
Experimental, fictionalised
documentary about the
Japanese writer Nakagami
Kenji, who died young in 1992.
Nakagami was the chronicler of
the seaside town of Shingu.
Many of Nakagami’s stories
are set in a specific alley in
Shingu, an alley that is now
gone, but that lives on in the
fiction of Nakagami. And also
on celluloid, because the writer
filmed the alley before its demolition.
In the film by Aoyama
Shinji, the film-maker Izuchi
Kisshu goes in search of what
is left of Nakagami’s alley. The
specific mood of the small harbour
town however turns out
to be difficult to find. In the
film, the film-maker reads the
books of Nakagami out loud for
us at the locations where they
are set, but is difficult to
inwoke the magic. Time and
again, film-maker Aoyama
returns to the film images
made by Nakagami, while the
filmmaker in the film seems to search in vain in the present.
BIOGRAPHY
assistant director to Kurosawa Kiyoshi, Fridrik Thor
Fridriksson, Daniel Schmid e Rijiu Go, among others. As a
