OSHIMA ’99
Nell’aprile del 1999 Oshima
Nagisa ha iniziato le riprese
di Gohatto, il suo primo film
dopo un silenzio di 13 anni.
Il progetto era stato annunciato
nel gennaio del ’96, ma
poco dopo un ictus aveva
lasciato Oshima semiparalizzato
e appena in grado di
parlare. Dopo aver sopportato
una dura riabilitazione
fisica, il maestro ha autorizzato
Gozu Naoe a portare
una handycam sul set di
Gohatto, dove per otto mesi la
regista ha seguito il lavoro
dei “Compagni”, un gruppo
di attori e tecnici orgogliosamente
fedeli a Oshima.

dopo essere entrata alla Tv
Man Union ha vinto vari
premi per documentari e fiction.
Nel 1995 ha prodotto Maborosi, no hikari di Kore’eda
Hirokazu, e ha vinto il premio per la miglior produttrice
tv giapponese. Nel 1999 il Festival del Cinema
Indipendente Giapponese l’ha dichiarata “Miglior nuova
regista”.

In April 1999 Oshima Nagisa
began filming Gohatto, his first
film in 13 years. The project had
been announced in January
1996, but soon after, during a
visit in London, Oshima suffered
a severe stroke wich left
him paralyzed on his right side
and barely able to speak. After
enduring a tough physical rehabilitation,
the master allowed
Gozu Naoe to take a handycam
onto the set of Gohatto, where
for eight months she filmed the
work of the “Comrades”, a
group of actors and technicians
fiercely loyal to him.
BIOGRAPHY
Gozu Naoe (Nagano, 1953).
After joining TV Man Union
she earned several awards for
her documentaries and dramas.
In 1995 she produced
Maborosi, no hikari directed
by Kore’eda Hirokazu, and she won the Japanese Female
Broadcaster Award. In 1999 she was declared “Best new
director” at the Japanese Indipendent Film Festival.
